To answer the question about family dynamics as it relates to this discussion... the harder parents push to control the way a son/daughter presents themselves the more they will rebel if that is not how they want to dress. While parents DO have a certain amount of control over people living under their roof, that goes out through window once the child or young adult leaves for school or to hang out with friends and so on. You don't think us girls can borrow clothes from friends? Get real. The problem is the people that can sexualize us no matter what we wear. I'll give an example. I was 14 and went skiing at a small resort about an hour from where I live with a friend and their family. They have a hill for tubing. I had a creepy ass old guy that was there with his own family (kids and mom enjoying tubing and him and drunk friend standing atop the hill) making suggestive comments about me and my friend. We were wearing winter jackets and snowpamts. I was 14 mind you. If I can't wear a snow suit at the age of 14 and not avoid it what chance does any girl have in normal attire?
