Girlfriend wants tattoos and piercings?

Hey, My girlfriend and I are both 17. Recently she's told me how she really wants to get a tattoo and her belly button pierced. I dont find either of these attractive and theyre more of a turn off to me. I've told her that they're unattractive and stuff but she's still convinced on getting them. I am a Christian so to me they're more wrong than right because of my beliefs as well. I dont want her to do this because I know her and I know she'll regret it but I dont want to control her life either. What can I do?

Tell her to find a tatto she really likes, and if a year from now she really wants it, she can get it. I have three and they all have a deep meaning to me. If there is a meaning behind the tattoo, I believe it's ok! I am also a Christian, and I can see how you are worried that she'll regret it eventually! So I think as long as she finds one that really means something to her, she should get it! I know they're forever, but they will remind you of the "good ol' days" when you're older! You can look back and say "I've lived, and I've got these to prove it!" And with the belly button piercing, there is a high migration rate, so it's very possible her body will push it out. It happened to me and it leaves a terrible scar. So it's a "pierce at your own risk" kinda deal there. But if she's lucky, and it doesn't migrate, it will look great and it's able to be hidden!
But I don't know, that's just my views on that so...

I have tattoos and a belly button piercing. Don't regret them. I actually love them.
And no where in the bible does it tell you that it is wrong or a sin to have tattoos or piercings. I would know because I am Christian.
Either A) Let her live her life and stop controlling her. Or B) Get yourself a new girlfriend who fits into your strict line up of guidelines.

I understand that but she is my girlfriend and I like her for who she is now. I don't want that to change. But I also don't want it to be a dealbreaker

My boyfriend is the same way. I do what I want with my body and he gets to use to it and then we move on. I compromise sometimes but like I got my nose pierced and he didn't want me to and I got a tattoo and he didn't want to me. He has grown to be indifferent to the piercing and he likes my tattoo now.

Okay fair enough. I said if she got one it should at least hold significance for her, and she said that she doesn't have anything like that in her life yet. And I think she looks amazing just as she is, she doesn't need a tattoo to make herself look better

I'm surprised by how many Christian girls have tattoo's or a belly piercing these days , so based on what I've seen online I'd say there fairly common. I don't think there is anything inapproiate with a Christian girl having her belly button pierced and most who have one rarely show it off in public , one of my ex gf's was a tutor at a catholic school and she had her's pierced and doubt they even knew. most girls like this who get a piercing are still fairly tame compared to other girls out there , just cause they have a belly piercing doesn't really change anything about them , there still very descent girls in that sense

though about this some more , want to add , Christian girls have more "values" and generally looking for a serious relationship that will lead somewhere. so with that in mind a belly piercing doesn't change the girl. I've known a number of religious girls over the years who had this piercing and all were very nice people , none were ever sluts or such but they did have belly button pierced when they were younger , most tend to get in around end of high school or start of college and keep it for a few years and such. so even though a lot of Christian girls are getting their belly button's pierced I'd still say they have strong values and goals in life and this piercing doesn't change that

I'm very passionate about my christian faith and I have 5 piercings; I also had pink hair not too long ago. Nowhere in the bible does it say "Thou shalt not express thyself". Don't do anything; it's not in your place.

And fyi, i've had some of my piercings for 3 years now. I don't regret it even a tiny smidge.
