Should I be worried about my boyfriend's type for women being so far from myself?

My boyfriend and I have been together almost a year and the love is definitely there BUT I've realized that I'm actually nothing like his type as far as the appearance goes. His favorite celebrities are Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis(Jackie from 70's Show), Milanda Karr, Victoria's Secret Model. Ironically his ex. looks like Mila Kunis... Whoever girls he thinks hot from watching TV, reading magazines or walking on a street all have similar facial features. In word, to me, they have cat-like face. On the other hand, I'm from japan and look pure Asian and nothing like those girls, my facial features are polar opposite. He doesn't realize that he has the distinctive type of women he naturally get attracted to. He is very open to me so he'd tell me whoever he thinks is hot and he'd actually told me that he had never been attracted to Asian women until he met me. It's a compliment but still makes me feel self-conscious about my appearance as his girlfriend and don't know how to build my confidence. It's pretty weird that he is attracted to me. I can feel that he loves me but what if he meets a girl who has the look that he likes and actually get along? Do you think he'd cross the line? I'd like to hear different people's opinions!

I kind of understand how you feel, in a way. My boyfriend is into goth girls who have big breasts and are kind of edgy, and I'm the polar opposite of his type. I'm a girly-girl through and through, have small breasts, and definitely not edgy. I knew he always loved me, but sometimes I wondered why he was even attracted to me and why he decided to pursue me in the first place since I'm so different from the type he likes. I found out though that even if I wasn't the type he usually went for, there was something that I possessed that the other girls didn't that drew him to me and made him want to be with me. So, you may not be the Mila Kunis, Angelina Jolie type of girl, but you are hot in a way that those types of girls aren't, and you have something that makes him want to stick around. He loves you for you, and you have to trust him not to cross the line as you put it if he does happen to meet a girl like that. As for him pointing out other girls he thinks is hot to him, that would probably get to me too. You can start pointing out guys you think are hot to prove a point, or you can just talk to him about how it makes you feel when he does that.

I wouldn't worry about it, it more than likely means he loves you for you, inside first then out and that is awesome. And he is into you and comfortable around you, that is great too. Honestly I almost married a guy that was polar opposite in looks of who I normally would go for, he was such a great guy (we didn't work out, I was too young and he was ready for more than I could give him). So just be yourself, feel beautiful because you are and be confident...if it bothers you that he looks at other girls ask him to stop, that you want to hear him compliment you! But know that he has chosen to be with you...looks change but personality does not! Remember how important that can be!

Oh my god... really? Seriously, while all of us have preferences, they aren't the final deciding factor in who we will end up with. Or who we end up dating. I like black haired girls, yet I've dated all kinds. It makes no difference. Stop worrying so much.

As long as you do believe he is attracted to you and loves you, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've been happily in relationships with many women who were not quite my type.

It's odd that he would tell you he prefers someone that doesn't look like you. I would take that as an insult and tell him to stop being so 'open'

His honesty seems to be working in both good and bad ways but I guess I'd rather want him to be honest than shady. I just wish he could become more considerate and tell me things that make me feel good about myself...
