Hey! OK so this is a big (and sometimes controversial) debate that came up in a class and its a topic thats come up in conversations with friends on how they were brought up. It's interesting to see how so many people view spankings as necessary discipline and a normal part of growing up, whereas others see it as a bad thing! Would be interesting to hear from the experiences of everyone here. This survey's probably not relevant if you weren't spanked growing up but if you were, copy and paste the questions and please share your views: 1) Do you believe spankings are an effective form of discipline? 2) How often were you spanked growing up (rarely, often or very often)? 3) Who did the discipline in your house? Did you ever get spanked by anyone other than your parents? 4) What offences did your parents consider deserving of a spanking? 5) Was it effective in making you stop doing whatever you were doing wrong? 6) When your parents spanked you would they make you go over their knee or bend over a bed etc, or would it just spank on the spot while you were standing? 7) What age did you get your last spanking and what did you do? 8 ) What did your butt feel like after a spanking? 9) Did your parents ever use an object to discipline you or was it just with their hand? 10) When you were spanked, was it done on the bare butt or over your clothes? 11) Did you cry every time? 12) Did you find getting spanked embarrassing or painful, or both? I was spanked growing up. My dad would ask which belt I wanted to be spanked with. My mom would spank me too but not as hard. I stopped getting spankings when I was young because they were no longer effective on me. I'd never spank my children.

Damn girl.. no,1x, neither parent they were too old/ gave up when i came aling, none, nope, n/a, n/a, ditto, etc.. and #17.. my opinion changed after just this thought" WHY THE HELL WOULD ANYONE SEE PHYSICAL PUNISHMENT AS A FORM OF ANYTHING?" Am not an idiot Liberal here nor are any of my children fucking on probation, had any police contact or are serial killers. Thank you.

I'm not a big fan of those as punishment. Like a little tap is something but I'd people go into full pain got to prep for it, not cool. My parents just talked with me, and I turned out fine with that.

Sometikes spanking a child is the only thing that works. I spank my 7 year old as a last resort. I spank ny two year old by spanking his hands when he does touch things he shouldn't.

I was. Never did me any harm and help teach me manners and discipline. When you see misbehaving kids in stores throwing tantrums, talking back to their parents and causing a scene you know they've never been spanked.

Hi , Personally my parents never spanked me but they did discipline me by time outs and taking away certain privileges as a child. How they chose to discipline me was effective. However I do believe different methods work for different children. When I have kids I will learn them and learn to use what method I believe would be effective for that specific child be it a spanking or a timeout.

Growing up in abusive homes I never experienced spanking, it was more slapping, threatening, punching etc... I don't believe and form of parenting should involve hitting your child, but discipline is still a must!

I believe they can be an effective form of discipline but if it leaves a bruise, scar, welt, etc or if they're in tears, it has gone too far
