Why are many Korean men so mean and rude towards women?

I noticed that a lot of Korean men tend to be get angry very easily and are very controlling towards women. Not only that, but when are in a bad mood, they would also treat women like crap and abuse them without being considerate at all. Are there any particular reasons behind it?

As a Korean women who has lived in the Korean culture and have met a lot of Korean men, I can tell you that qt78 is on the money. qt78 is NOT a racist. qt78 made an observation. Keep your eyes wide open if you think that one of those attractive Korean guys are as sensitive as the K Pop makes you believe. K Pop is a well designed well rehearsed money making machine. It is an image. These guys are putting on an act.
I can tell you that the Korean culture is a shame based culture with expressed culturally-approved (it is very male dominated) cruelty towards women... look it up online. 80% of Korean boyfriends admit to treating their girlfriend in a cruel manner. It is a vengeful culture where a man goes out his way to install hidden camera in the women's bathroom and sells her private pictures online to shame and black mail her. Google it yourself. A boyfriend does the similar thing. It is not uncommon in Korea for an ex boyfriend to put his ex girlfriend's naked picture or of them having sex online as vengeance to ruin her reputation. I cannot be racist to my own people. I am Korean myself. You can ask me a question only a Korean would know and I would know it. Be careful women. There are a lot of Korean guys who are shame based, vengeful enough to go to the end of the earth to ruin your reputation. While you are with them, they will make sure that your moves are controlled... most do not have much identity or self confidence. They are really not a great investment of your time. If you are attracted to them, remember what you see is pretty much all you will get. Enjoy but Be careful.

You shouldn't make generalizations about an entire group of people. You sound like a racist. By the way, all men from any background or upbringing can fit this description but you chose to put race in it so you can receive certain answers. And to answer your question, no I have never witnessed a Korean man being abusive towards a woman.

LOL I am not being racist at all. I have grown up in a very multicultural environment and have had interactions with individuals from many different races so this is all based on my personal experience. It's not uncommon for Korean men to physically and verbally abuse women especially when they are in bad mood.

As a Korean woman who has met lots of Korean men, I do not think it is a generalization. Koreans are very homogenous. 80 % of Korean boyfriends admit to being abusive to their girl friends. Look it up yourself.

because Korean culture is still very men oriented and they were raised that way.. and women were raised to respect me and never talk back to men.. etc.. so... but I've heard young people like in 20s... they treat women better?

korean society is really harsh because of historical poverty and the threat of North Korea. That’s not an excuse but they have economic success without much social progress in many cases

I don't know if many are or not, but I found that the ones that are, learned the behavior from home or were spoiled/pampered by their parents, so they feel entitled, but usually these types of guys are just mean to everyone. And also with the formal and informal ways of speaking, the words can come off as really mean and rude when they speak informally in English, but then again, that's how a lot of guys talk to each other.

No. But I used to live there for a year. Anyways, a lot of Korean men act so tough and are intimidating.

I've met Koreans; they're not very intimidating to me and they were in the military.

But they are not that nice and friendly towards foreigners from Southeast Asian countries such as Philippines and Thailand and look down on them. Korean men and Koreans are not that nice people in my opinion.

Yes I know that for a fact. However, Japanese are more polite and respectful compared to Koreans. On the other hand, Korean men tend to get irritated very easily and are very self centered. I mean Korean men talk shit about Filipinos and Thais and insult them.

As a Korean I lived in Korea and in the States. We as a group of people have some major issues. Koreans are cruel vengeful people and are merciless towards whoever they consider weak. Therefore, women and minorities are easily abused and treated as second class citizens. Although they act like great Christians, look what they do to their elders. 50% of the Korean elders live in severe poverty. Face Saving, Face beautifying is what they do. Some of the most vengeful, insecure people are Korean males. Being tough and intimidating is just a veneer. You can very easily intimate them if you have status and money which is how I controlled them. No soul, no identity, not much humanity. I pity them. If you are not convinced, look at what Korean men do to dogs before they kill them for consumption. If really will give you a visceral reaction.
