Is it possible for the birth control pill to change how a woman feels about the guy she's with?

I swear this happened to me. I was seeing a girl for over three and a half years and lived with her for over three years. Shortly after she started taking the birth control pill just three months before she left me she changed so much. She stopped working out, stopped eating healthy, lost all interest in sex and before I inow it she lost all interest in me. I read reviews on her pill and a lot of women had bad experiences with it. One even said she felt separated from her boyfriend. I'm just interested to hear everyone's take on this. Something seemed really off to me.

Yeah, that's entirely possible.

The pill works by altering the horomones in the woman's body, essentially fooling her body into thinking it's already pregnant.

And pregnancy is a mess of horomones.

It's worth asking if she'd be willing to switch pills or try you using a condom instead. That said, I know when I was on the pill I just would've refused switching - I thought it was fine (how wrong), but I knew for sure that I wasn't willing to go through the adjustment period for a new brand all over again.

I'm legit so excited I've been approved for a bilateral saplingectomy and my partner has a vasectomy. Not needing to worry about getting pregnant is awesome, especially considering neither of us want children.

I tried mentioning that to her. She said she was fine. She wasn't fine though. It was like someone flipped a switch in her.

I hear you, I really do.

I thought I was fine until I came off the pill after using it for 5 years.

I came out of "the fog" after about six months after my final round.

Honestly, I highly recommend women consider IUDs instead of the pill if they're looking for temporary birth control.

Though even IUDs can cause allergic reactions.

Contraceptives are unfortunately not one-size fits all, and it can be a pain to find the right one. But it's that or risk a pregancy.

Yeah it's tough. I wish there were more options for men. I just really think that she's going to wake up one day and realize she made a mistake. It's so sad.

I hear ya. Likewise on those options for men, and overall I hope we get better and better contraceptives for both sexes in the near future.

Hormones can cause a lot of behavioral changes. And bc is comprised of 2 hormones.

I'd be more surprised if it didn't. You play with hormones like that, you're going to get some serious changes.

I thought so. I tried talking to her about it. I even sent her a link to the reviews. I believe she still decided to take it because her doctor told her changes in mood weren't a side effect of her pill. It is such a shame. Her and I were through so much and I was planning on marrying her.

It’s scientifically proven that women behave differently and make different choices when they’re on birth control. It’s possible that when a woman is using contraception and finding a partner, that she’ll fall out of love when she quits the contraceptives for whatever reason. Or that she suddenly thinks the guy is smelling badly (pheromones).

Yeah I don't know. It just threw me through a loop. I mean I treated her well. I never yelled at her and I certainly never got physical with her. I paid the rent, utility bills, paid for some of the groceries. I'm legally blind and she was taking me back and forth to work so I was paying for all her gas and half the maintenance on her car. I thought I was being a good man to her.
