Why do girls flirt with guys they have no intention of doing anything with?

I'm tired of falling for it, tired of thinking someone cares about me or finds me attractive or interesting just for it mean nothing, it always means nothing yet my stupid ass always Hope's it does.
So sure part of the problem is I'm a hopeless moron that is borderline self sabatoshing by allowing myself to think for even a second it means anything.
But girls, why do flirt so casually and with guys that mean absolutely nothing to you? I dont think I've ever flirted with a girl I didn't like somewhat.
If flirting is just casual and dosent matter what does? What should I look for? I just want to feel like I matter to someone, I want someone to care. I'm tired of all this fake dating game bs.

We don't... In my case, I'm VERY effusive and many people confuse my energy for romantic interest... I think guys need to study a bit harder on how to read a woman so in the future you don't keep falling for girls that ***you*** think is flirting with you... But I don't think you should condemn the WHOLE gender from your experiences... Especially if you can't prove if they were actually flirting or just being friendly... But if you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that she was indeed flirting... Then I retract this opinion...

Yes I admitt sometimes just girls being friendly I confuse with flirting, but it seems like a very fine line separates the 2.
I'm definitely gonna try to better understand the difference.

One example that really seemed like a mixed signal to me was my friend use to slide up into me, shoulder to shoulder look me in the eyes and say high real cute like.
she's my bestfriend so asked her what that meant she said just being nice but it sure seemed flirty to me.

I was talking to one girl a lot, she straight called me cute then she had family from out of town over for the weekend I said I didn't want to interrupt her family time, never heard from her again, she ghosted me and wouldn't reply. Why she call me cute then just drop me?

Or teasing kind of seems like flirting to. One girl was acting like she wanted me to come over, I straight said I'll head up, and when I get there she's suprised I was there like wtf?

No I shouldn't generalize all women, but I've encountered more teasing or flirting than I care for

I've never flirted with anyone "random" either, don't know how people do it. I suppose it's mostly thanks to the ego boost they get out of it. They're selfish enough to play around with you, I'm sure they're also fine with using you for one reason or another.

Some like to flirt with other guys to make their actual boyfriend jealous so he puts more on the table. From observation this is toxic, I can't stress how bad it is.
Other girls flirt because it's fun to have a guy react the way they do. Just flirt back enjoy the fun. Maybe if you get all good at it, you can try it on an unsuspecting girl and have you're own fun. Don't wait for a girl to flirt with you, that's why you're annoyed.

Sometimes they just want to prove to themselves that they could get someone if they wanted and use people as a test run to ensure that thought process. It can be for other reasons too, but the ego boost is a common one as it makes them feel wanted, attractive, and more confident knowing that they can pull it off when they want to.

You know, your post reminded me of another post with a similar question. A lot of the girls that responded to that were like, "Cause it's fun" or "Cause it's exciting." I was disgusted, because they were playing with guys' emotions when they knew nothing was coming out of it all for their own entertainment. And what is even more irritating is that we hear ALL THE TIME women complaining about men doing the same thing to them and how much it pisses them off... and then they turn around and do the same crap that they complain about. Treat others the way you wanna be treated. If you don't wanna be used, then don't use people. Don't flirt with guys that you have no intention of being with.
