Me I really do,always being compared to my older sister... and I really hate it... it seems that they putting me down and they don't trust me... and it was so annoying... from school,grades,from activities etc

I really like to be with myself but hate being compared,.. cause I know everyone is UNIQUE individual so why comparison?

People keeps on saying I'm the TOTALLY OPPOSITE of my sister but its fine tho I'm used of it,i just being compared like about the FuTURE plans which is they predict already that if I'm gonna like this I will be like that somewhat like that really weird but we can't impose on them...

My parents used to tell me that I couldn't do things that they let my sister do when she was my age because "We learned from our mistakes with her." Like I would ever have done some of the things she did that they were so worried about me becoming. We are nothing alike and the things they wouldn't let me do had nothing to do with the way my sister turned out.

I also hate when my parents compare our major choices. Seriously, I know what I am getting into. It makes me happy. I don't care that it is an incredibly competitive field I am getting into. I love it, and its what I want to do. I don't care that my sister's major lead to a job right out of college. I'll get by just fine. Even my roommate is sick of them dissing my choice in major/future career.

They also compare our personalities, but I don't mind that because my parents like my personality more than my sister's.

I can't really think of any other ways my parents compare us.

Well,...I'm late xD, but yeah, I absolutely hate being compared to anyone else. I guess with siblings, it's natural to compare them. After all, siblings are flesh and blood and people can't help but compare. However, the one thing I can't stand is being compared to someone who isn't even related to me. It irritates me to no end when my mom tells me to be more like my best friend, ugh. I am my own person. I refuse to be molded like clay and shaped into what others want. I'd rather be hated for who I am than be liked for who I'm not. End of Story.

I hate that sh*t. I have an older brother, and naturally he experienced everything first. So when it was my turn, people would compare. An example would be school. I had a lot of his old teachers. Ugh.

:yeah same here but it was my older sister we do have same school,same course BUT the difference is I'm a cheerleader,dancer,do the gymnastics,choir member and do some declamation and she's great in academics...shes good in debate and reporting,so everyone was so amazed on her and she's so quite while me talkative hahahha

I hate being compared as well. It can be real offensive to me when I get compared to someone else and put into the less-than section of the comparison.

My parents are especially bad when they compare me to house guests.

I know what their intentions are, but they don't know how belittling it can be when they say it out loud at that setting.

It's only natural to compare siblings, Don't let it bother you. I agree it's a drag, we all went through it from family members. Often it was embarrassing and an implied put down, since usually they were saying we didn't measure up to the other person, or they didn't measure up to us. Either way it was uncomfortable.

The only way to get them to stop is to do the same to them. Compare them to your other uncles or aunts...

Neither hate or love it, just "meh" about it myself. Never really give it much thought usually.

And we younger siblings tend to always be compared to the older ones. It's stupid, but that's how people are "oh you're from the same family, I'll have a preconceived notion you're just like that person even though you're different"

But ya, it's really dumb to constantly be compared to someone, but that's how people are. They try and reference and relate things and people to other things and people so they can better understand said thing/person.

Yes. I feel like comparisons are pointless because everyone is different.Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. It's impossible to compare two things that are not like. WHich is the beauty of life, everyone is different, everyone is unique. Comparisons are ridiculous and a waste of time for everyone

i don't mind being compared...but I'm sure my siblings dont. I'm the oldest so usually the comparison is in my favor. but if I'm compared to other people and theyre dissing me in a way, then I don't like it.
