Girls, do you like hanging around guys and having male friends more than other girls?

A lot of girls I hung out with and was friends with IRL said they don't like hanging around other girls for various reasons, but one of them being because girls usually expects the world to cater or capitulate to them. These female friends of mine often said being around guys was better because men have to earn everything, including in social circles, and that men do subconscious "tests" to see if you can be "one of us." And when these girls were able to endure the roasting, jokes, playful insults, etc, and get accepted in a guy's inner circle, it was far more rewarding for them. They also said that guys are more honest with each other, and more helpful to each other because of it.

Of course, this usually only works if the guys are not romantically or sexually interested in the girl (like, if she's queer) and if the girl is the only female in the social circle.

But are there girls here on GAG that mainly like having male friends?
And if so, did you have to work to be accepted into their social circle?
Do you feel guys make for better friends than girls?

Actually, my first best friend was a boy, we separated when his parents changed him from school when we were 7. From there I only had female friends. I'm best friends with a guy now in college, and my best friend (girl) and friends from high school are starting to kinda, I don't know, we don't fit like we did growing up. I find a lot of girls (no all) are too superficial around my age, conversations and hanging out turns boring, always with the phone, taking pics. I find guys tend to be more decomplicated, and conversations with them can be more fun, not about boyfriends, silly problems, etc. And there's less problem choosing a place to eat, or just any plan in general. I like shitpost and humor that is easier to share with guys then with certain girls.

I feel like my closest friends are still girls. But I do tend to lean toward having more male friends than female. I'm not so much a tomboy as has been mentioned below, but I did grow up as the only girl in the family so I am more familiar with the things men do.

Yes, we get tested. Both to see if we'll get offended by things, or to see if we're open to romance depending on how I joined the group. With my fiance's friends, it was more of seeing how I'd respond and if my presence would change how he was with "the boys".

Yes and no.. I have mostly guy friends now as most of my friends are from a bodybuilding gym and yes it took them a while to ‘accept me’ because naturally because of my gender they took a while of observing it see if I’m serious, what clothes I tend to wear etc. (I’m always in baggy guys clothes) and it nice being friends with them as we have more simillar interests over girls. I hate shopping for instance and they’re more blunt


On Theo ther hand would be nice it have an equal mix of girl friends too as I miss ‘girl talk’ everyonce in a while and although we talk about feelings depending on n the guy friend, it’s a lot more common with women and certain stuff you can relate etc

I dont know with girls it can be drama/competition of who looks better (like who cares) or drama about a guy.
Lately with guy friends I feel its drama too ridiculous they get jealous (recently happened to me)
I would say guys can be better to hangout more funny

I don't really care that much about the gender I think but I prefer having close girl friends as they are more relatable than guys.
I do like hanging out with guys sometimes and I've had nice intellectual friendships with guys but overall I'm more comfortable with girls.

I love hanging out with guys. I grew up the middle child between two boys! So I’m very comfortable around lads. I also like hanging out with women though, I have no preference either way but I definitely am more chill with guys than many women I know.

I've always gotten along better with guys than girls, but mainly because of the interests I have in things I enjoy. I'm a straight tomboy. I've never struggled with being accepted so far.

I do prefer guys over girl friends for the most part. Guys are definitely less dramatic and are more open to try things. Not to mention don't have to deal with them also having periods. I feel. guys are also less judgmental for most things

I prefer girls even though I sometimes have a harder time initially with girls. For some reason I get more nervous around new females which makes no sense since I’m female and it’s not like I’m trying to pick them up or anything. I do, I've had girl friends all through middle school and high school but when I studied a man dominated career I got a lot of guy friends. They're really honest, fun, not jealous at all, and less competitive with me
