I was joking about what he said. I told him that I would give him red card for that  ( red card is from soccer/football where the referee will give player a red card for a serious offend)

He replied: haha well that means that the game is over then  ( the emoji he used was the distraught face emoji)

He meant the game is over sadly, but could be in a playful manner. Do you flirt often? Do you tease eachother & have loads of playful banter? If so then I would say , yes. Also depends on his personality.
