Am I intimidating to strangers?

Context: I’m 6ft 7inch (about 200cm) with a somewhat large frame, I like to think I’m a pretty friendly guy but recently I’ve noticed girls will only come up and talk to me on nights out if I’m sitting down.

Is there anything I can do to make myself more approachable or am I just overthinking it? It sucks walking down the street and seeing girls cross the road out of fear it always makes me feel like an asshole.

I do find tall and big guys kinda intimidating. They’re super big and scary. They usually are bit less scary when sitting down though, so I think you got that right.

But the thing is they’re also my favourite. They feel the safest and they give the best the hugs in the world. Girls would like your height.

I feel like crossing the road, especially at night, is a typical thing for a girl to do with any guy. Any guy can be intimidating no matter their size, and especially at night or when you’re all alone.

Just smile at them and be friendly. A scary, grumpy face doesn’t help much either. Being friendly is about the best way to do I think.

But also don’t stress about it. Yes, big guys are scary. But most girls like really tall guys, trust me. So you won’t have much problems with that.

@MCheetah To some girls height doesn’t matter and it’s perfectly fine to be a short guy. There’s heaps of short girls around and even tall girls that like short guys. I know this woman who’s almost 6ft and married to like a 5ft guy.

My personal preference is tall guys and I’m allowed that preference. I’ve dated guys just below my height before so it’s not like I’m a snob about it. But yeah, I like guys a lot taller than me.

Our society has made women very cautious, sadly, when we feel intimidated or vulnerable. The fact that you’re very tall and broader set can undoubtedly be seen as threatening if a woman is walking towards you by herself. But it has nothing to do with you personally! Don’t overthink it, and perhaps, now that you’re aware, cross the road, so she doesn’t have to. It will show that you are a gentleman and are considering her feelings. Just a thought, but not entirely necessary.

To be fair, society isn't too blame for women becoming "... very cautious...", it's men. Not all men, but too many scumbags have gone unchecked.
The number one threat to women is men, not cancer, or heart disease, it's men. So really it's a matter of self preservation.

It's OK to say things that others might not like, so long as it's the truth. It can't be what you think the truth is, it does have to be the truth, sometimes it's hard to make that distinction.

Probably. And being that tall, no, you're not friendly. Honestly, I wouldn't want to be around you. Not out of intimidation though.

To answer the question, you can start by being nicer to those you look down as your inferiors (not just women; mainly the men under six feet tall). Man, I'm only 180 cm, which is basically a little f*cking girl. I'd KILL to have what you have. I wouldn't even be intimidating either, because I'd always be smiling and happy.

Height doesn’t make you a better or worse person that’s dumb. Height like mine isn’t even what it’s cracked up to be, my backs covered in scars and stretch marks from growing, I can’t afford a bed that I can fit into, I’ve already got developing back and neck issues at 19, I can’t buy clothes easily, and lots of girls have turned me down because I was “freakishly tall”.

I don’t know what you mean by inferiors I’m sorry if I came across as demeaning in my question but I just wanted a way to not feel like a circus act in bars.

Okay. Sorry for being rude to you. Being short just sucks. I'd happy take "Tall People Problems" like wearing ugly clothes or having slightly uncomfortable airline seats over dying alone (and not even being able to complain about it because some adult men out there are like, 157 cm, so you just hear "things could be worse" all the time).

I’ve literally dated two guys that were as tall as me that I ended up outgrowing. My mums dated a few shorties too.

There is literally no problem with your height so don’t be so insecure. 180cm is pretty tall, I’m 172 - that’s a whole 3 inches taller than me.

Now if a girls like 157cm, compared to your height that’s a whole 9 inch difference. Why would she go for someone 200cm? That’s too much so your height would be perfect.

You will get plenty of girls when you stop making such a big deal out of height.

That's objectively false. 96% of all straight women care a lot about height and would not be with a man same height or shorter than her. And almost as many Western women do not want a man who is under 183 cm, or below six feet. My entire adult life for being rejected for being too short by women, says otherwise. Literally only one woman I dated was fine with my height and she was 191 cm and 295 pounds/134 kg (not that I took issue with either one). Outside of GAG and another wise, I've never met a single woman who was fine with men who were as short as me, let alone super-short. Most women where I'm from were 167 cm without heels, and that's not even tall for a woman. In a pair of heels, they're my height. How can I be fine being the same size as most women?

Nope, not more than the next guy anyway, I think it’s more so the setting, it’s normally in the early hours of the morning when people are walking home that it happens. I live on a university campus so that could be why.

184 cm (6'0") to 6'3" (190 cm) is the sweet spot for men. Below that is way too short, and (although I don't agree) above 6'3" is said to give some men problems.
