Why do women consider mama boys as a negative for men?

Never really got the reasoning here for why a man who cares about his mom and still seeks her guidance, counselling and wanting her to still have a big role in his life is considered bad trait by vast majority of women. I mean, isn't it a bigger red flag if said male basically became distance towards the woman that birth him once a new woman enters his life?

Why is it women have a problem with moma boys while guys are fine with daddy girls?

Although movies and sitcoms portray the son in law/mother-in-law as being in conflict, in reality the mother and daughter in law's relationship is often contentious from the start. @IAteTwoFullHams listed several of the reasons.

The mother, being older and established than the DIL, will imagine herself the expert on things like marriage or childrearing and expect the DIL to take her advice as gospel. This leads to friction, which the son often doesn't see or chooses to ignore.

The same reason a woman calls a random chick entering the room a bitch. Unwanted competition. Yeah, it's not sexual but women seem to be based on the attention factor more than the sexual one.

The dudes driven by sex, most likely care less as long as they get a vagina at the end of the night.

The difference between a man who loves his mother, respects her and treats her well vs a man who is a mama's boy is a matter of degree. A mama's boy goes too far and has an unhealthy relationship with his mother. It's like a mama's boy just hasn't been able to ween himself from his mother and live his own life as an adult. Its not about respecting advice given by his mother. It's about her having too much influence and him not thinking for himself.

A woman WANTS a man who respects his mother. She wants a man who treats his mother right, and who treats other women and men right. But she wants to live together as husband and wife, not wife and mother-in-law. He is married to her now, not to mama.

Most women want to be a man's life partner. She wants to make all the major decisions with him and she wants them to come to each other for advice and counsel and support.

None of that works if a man's mother is standing in that spot and refuses to cede it.
