In all seriousness though, the answer to your question is kinda hard to find, because it preemptively subscribes to an idea that just isn't true. The idea that men and women are "equal," doesn't even truly make sense. What you should be asking, is "are men and women necessary." Take food and water for example. Both are necessary in keeping you alive, but they serve entirely different purposes.

And while yes, I admit that our purpose is not defined by our gender, in any relationship, having defined roles makes things sail a whole lot smoother. If you're doing exactly what I'm doing, there is no reason for us to be talking to each other, and I might as well be dating myself. That being said, society has deemed women to be a protected class. Have you ever heard the expression "women and children first?" It exists for a reason. Perhaps it has something to do with the way that women have been portrayed for centuries, weak and frail creatures, who are incapable of protecting themselves.

Either way, most men are attracted to that "type" of woman, because women who are like that make them feel needed. A man who feels needed feels necessary. The thought of knowing that without you, things cannot function properly, feels pretty damn good.
