Because women face an absolutely insane degree of social pressure to conform to prevailing attitudes and ideas, and the social punishments for violating them anyway are harsh as hell. Men, on the other hand, are handed so much nonsense that it's all but EXPECTED that we'll say "nuts to this" and ignore some of it.

Autists tend to already be socially isolated, and don't give a damn about status, so they're significantly less affected.
