I was crying 5 mins ago and my friend sent me something so I laughed , I think I wouldn't laugh at that kind of thing he sent me if I wasn't crying or in a bad mood

Laughing breaks the tension. When I'm upset and something unexpected happens it usually causes me to laugh. I laugh when I cry or am upset because sometimes it's just anxiety or shame over it. But sometimes it's just because I know that if I trigger a distraction it will break the pattern of behavior in the brain at that moment which will give me enough time to change my mood around. But also if someone is doing something like this scenario that shows they care about you enough to at least try making you happy, it's cute so I want to smile and end up laughing.
