Does it sound like she wants a reason to talk to me?

There is a girl at my job who works at the front desk. When she first started here, I assumed she was interested in me. I don't think that often, but her excitement towards me was something I haven't really seen much from girls. She would laugh at many things I would say and greet me with a wave and smile. It wasn't the norm. I didn't make any move though cause I didn't want to be wrong or make her uncomfortable cause she had just started working here. I didn't return her excitedness and I felt like she cooled down a lot.

Well recently I've been going near here more often cause I've been parking near the front desk. The last few times I've passed by to leave, she makes a comment or says something to me before I walk out the door.

Last week she asked something about my jacket as I was walking out. Then yesterday I walked passed her and right when I was about to leave she was __ are you leaving? I said yeah and she said Have a good weekend!!!

It's just every time I pass by her now she seems to have something to ask to say before I leave or go to another room. I usually never make conversation with her when I walk past even though I would like too.

She could just be really nice, I've had plenty of really friendly female coworkers, sure the first like you I read way to much into it, but then another one, friendly to me and everyone and she obviously didn't want to date any of us she was in a relationship and only dates mexican men, then a 3rd very nice female coworker would call me sweetheart and sweet, was real friendly but I know she wasn't coming on to me cause again she was in a relationship and a lesbian on top of that.

Point is girls can be nice to you just just cause they are nice. If you want to try and ask her out, or want to figure out if she wants to spend time outside of work with you, I wouldn't just ask her on a date, figure out her interests through small talk, shouldn't be hard sense she like to talk to you, then you can ask something "hey that comedian you told me about is in town, I was thinking about going to see his act" and if she seems excited ask if she'd want to go together, just make it seem like friends hanging out not a date.

She might be trying to talk to you because she's interested or she might just be being friendly.

She sounds like how I used to act around my crush at work. I'd make extra effort to try to initiate conversations when I was with him, even if it was just about nothing much. But because he never initiated conversations himself with me but was quite a talkative guy in general I assumed he was only ever talking to me to reply and be polite, so I don't try anymore. So if you like her, start showing more of an interest in her and see how things go. If you then sense that she likes you, make a move.

What she’s saying seems really really generic for a girl to say to a guy.


I’m the only woman in an otherwise all-male office. I always mention when one of the guys looks sharp, always wish the lot of them a good weekend as we let out of a Friday meeting, always treat them kindly because that’s what a respectable professional does.


In other words, nothing in what she’s doing sounds like she’s trying to flirt with you.
