When they get rejected
- 514 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic.
1 yBecause a lot of women get their sense of self-worth and social value from being desired. And getting rejected by a guy they like calls their desirability as a mate into question. Being rejected sucks lol
Look at all the boss babe icons of today: they're all objectively financially successful, stylishly bold and flamboyant, and most of them have men drooling over them. It's the ultimate expression of female power: "I've already earned everything I want without a man, but I can get men to give to me a second time too."

1 yBecause us women want to be desired by the person we love and when it turns out they don't feel the same/aren't interested, our heart hurts. We sometimes think it's because we don't look pretty enough. But given time, we'll remember it has nothing to do with us & how we look. But self-degrading is a cruel thing to do, but everyone has done it to a certain extent---men, women, and everyone beyond & in between. Eben I've done that to myself where my mind waves around and I think "insert" is why nobody wants me, despite me being a good person overall.

Because we are taught by society as a whole that our worth is intrinsically tied to how good we look... And that we never look good enough.
A lot of us have self-esteem issues.

A lot of people have mentioned why people don't want to get rejected but not why they degrade themselves, in my opinion its because they have no self worth or emotional intelligence. Nobody likes being rejected! thats normal in anybody, but for somebody to properly degrade themselves over it they must have some sort of underlying issues and need some sort of mental help or extra emotional support. This is not normal behaviour
- 1 y
@RubyFrench What is normality? Says the philosopher, says the psychologist :D
- 1 y
@RubyFrench I think it may be a bit more widespread than you think
- 1 y
it's obviously widespread as the world is full of fruitcakes now. my point is that it's not normal behaviour. just because someone gets rejected doesn't mean they need to embarrass themselves any further. nobody is everyone's cup of tea and people need to learn to deal with rejection in a healthier way than degrading themselves
- 1 y
@RubyFrench Well said
- 1 y
@RubyFrench I don't disagree that people shouldn't do it--it only makes your self-esteem worse and becomes a vicious cycle.
I don't believe that there is a cookie-cutter way for everyone to handle rejection though. What works for one girl won't necessarily work for another. Me, I am very sensitive and in tune with my emotions; my bestie is really blunt, direct, and oblivious sometimes 😅
Her and I absolutely do not handle setbacks the same way, but that doesn't make either of us wrong in how we do it; just different flavors of girl - 1 y
@RubyFrench
"The world is full of... Fruitcakes now".
"people need to learn to deal with rejection"
That sounds really far from any empathy here, in addition to a lack of basic psychological knowledge. On one hand you're talking about health yet you seem really unfamiliar with how health works. - 1 y
i do see your point🫶🏼 but i have to disagree to say this behaviour is okay or normal, your right in saying everyone is different, but i believe that the difference is that some of us are more emotionally intelligent and know what is appropriate and what is not appropriate. I know it's normal that people want to act out in rejection.. the only point i was making is that not everybody actually does.. and if they do then they most likely need some psychological help and thats not said nastily either (In this day and age its sadly normal to need psychological help) with social media, cheating, anxiety, depression and everything else happening in the world i'm not surprised people are having trouble controlling their emotions. I've been through it myself too so this is not a judgmental post. Id also like to say that this is not just a female thing !! plenty of males degrade themselves from rejection. its just not healthy for anybody to feel the need to degrade themselves and it definitely doesn't do them Any justice
- 1 y
maybe maybe not.. i think you need to calm down as your getting very personal over this discussion?
The vibe I'm getting off you is 'emotionally unintelligent'. and you let things get to you way too much.
Just chill out yeah - 1 y
@RubyFrench Yes, I do feel concerned about your phrasing and your mixed speech, it is personal in that sense. Also I have to smile when you suddenly wave emotional intelligence here, as I'm actually pointing at a speech lacking in the empathy department so it looks like you're trying to reverse things here
- 1 y
But you have no idea what your talking about nor do you know me? Im actually very empathetic, i'm just not a lunatic woman that will degrade myself over rejection of ANYONE! your getting way to personal and somehow thinking you know everybody's qualities and traits based off one opinion that they have?
You're also trying to use big words and attempting to sound smart! but it's making you look a bit stupid in my opinion! I'm sorry if this is offensive but I have to say it.
.. If you think it's okay to degrade yourself over rejection, then no offence but you probably have some serious underlying mental health issues that you should probably try to resolve (no judgement)
Im not going to get into argument with silly people either so I'll leave you with your thoughts. Thanks for the chat - 1 y
Then we just don't agree on the definition of empathy, nor health. Your current feelings about me are yours, they exist, I have no business in contradicting them. See you around
Short term pleasure makes them feel better in the moment, in the morning they regret it and double down.

Because they feel they aren’t good enough and feel they don’t deserve happiness , Sadly a lot of females ‘ have very low self esteem about themselves , especially if they had their heart broken before , or they were barely ever told they were beautiful , she will more than likely feel she isn’t good enough. When a girl really likes a guy , she will pretty much become submissive to him because she is attracted to him and looks up to him , if he declines her and wants nothing to do with her , her self esteem drops even more , to the point she no longer gives a fuck and she will probably degrade herself because she feels hurt and let down by someone she really liked. Some Guys’ do this shit as well , if he really likes a girl , but she wants nothing to do with him, especially to a girl that he was investing a lot of his time into, to find out she banged another guy instead , or she likes another guy over him. He will be hurt and sad and angry that she didn’t like him the same way he liked her. So his heart gets crushed and then he either gives up on all girls’ or he chases after another girl that he knows he can ha d a better chance with a girl that wasn’t his first pick basically , just a rebound. When my one ex cheated on me , that I gave my heart to that I loved and cherished, I pretty much went on a rampage when my heart was broken I was pretty much over relationships all together , and was just hooking up and having sex with random girls for fun and nothing more , ‘some of my so called girl friends were throwing themselves at me as well when they found out I was single , I fucked some of them but not all of them , the truth is , I couldn’t give my heart to any of them , I just treated them as friends with benefits and told them I wasn’t ready for another relationship. It got to a point i was juggling 6 girls’ at one time basically , and that’s when it eventually hit me , that I was being an asshole by stringing all these girls’ along even though I was honest with all of them , I felt bad because I felt like I was misleading them on but to me it was just sex. These girls would call me to set up dates with me and I started to forget which girl I had already made plans with , that’s when it really hit me that I had to stop what I was doing , Out of those 6 girls’, the one girl became my wife , I ended it with the other 5 girls’ and told them I met someone else. I am not saying every guy or every girl does this , but don’t be surprised if they did. Most people will degrade themselves when they are rejected or had their heart broken. by someone that they really liked and cared about. Why I choose not to be mean to girls’ that approach me and flirt with me , even if I am not attracted to her , I am still polite and kind to her , I tend to put myself in her shoes and think how nervous she probably feels to approach me like she did , So it’s better to be polite to someone that likes you, then to be a straight up asshole about it , it gives them dignity and respect and hopefully they won’t degrade themselves from it. Some of the girls’ I was an asshole to , ended up degrading themselves the ones I wasn’t an asshole to didn’t. So the truth is , we don’t walk around with signs flashing over our heads saying what we are into or what our current relationship status is , so there is no reason to be an asshole to someone that is showing interest in you. We aren’t mind readers, so next time an unattractive girl hits on you , be nice to her , there is no reason to be an asshole to her , only became an asshole if she doesn’t take No for an answer.

1 yTo be honest, it’s not just women who struggle with rejection; men do too. However, the way each gender tends to respond can be quite different. Women often internalize rejection, questioning their worth or feeling like they aren’t attractive or good enough. They might focus on their looks or personal qualities as the reason for being rejected. On the other hand, men may react by adopting a "Casanova" persona, masking their hurt by pursuing multiple casual relationships, as a way to avoid dealing with their emotional vulnerability or feelings of inadequacy.

1 yHow much rejection hurts, for me at least, depends on the length and depth of a relationship. As far as all of the little daily rejections that can happen? Water off a duck's back. I just find something worthwhile to do. Whatever little sting there might occasionally be goes away quickly.

m 1 yExactly like how many men degrade themselves, when something inside you reacts to your identity being rejected, then it's an inner war going on. Who's gonna be victorious depends a lot on how your parents cared for you during your development.

Anonymous(25-29)1 yIn studies it showed the difference in how males and females take rejection:
Men express their anger and general negative feelings outwards, while women express it inwards.
So in other words, or to simplify it, men will verbally attack the rejecter and a woman will verbally attack herself. The man will be mad at the rejecter and the woman will be mad at herself.
The difference in how the sexes process their emotions towards rejection.01 ReplyNot really lol, that would mean our Justice system would be backed up with harassment charges. Guys redirect that energy and put it into their work, their workout, or simply not take it to heart.
Guys get rejected more, also they learn not to be so sensitive more often by other guys as well. We physically start confronting each other very early in life. Sharks smell blood and verbal arguments such as having your idea rejected in your circle of friends might end up being physically challenged. So we learn to just put up or shut up and move forward
1 ySame reason they degrade themselves on the daily.. for attention and to feel wanted. Most woman's worth is only on how good they look and how many guys they can get.

1 yBecause the more vain women tend to base their entire personality around their appearance and class rather than have a real personality of their own and once you reject them you at least temporarily shatter their entire world view and force of part of their fake persona

1 yBecause they're emotional. They aren't even the ones doing the asking out. It's the men who deal with rejection and not only that but fear of harassment charges if they're confident enough to do what women expect and persist.
