Long story short: I met a girl at the gym and dated for a while. It ended two years ago, but we had ups & downs over the next few years as I was rising in the film and TV industry.
A year ago, we stopped talking & I became a celebrity, gaining recognition. My ex moved on and dated someone for 3 months, it didn’t work out. Seeing my name everywhere started to affect her.
In April, my best friend told me she tried to talk to him about life, but suspected she was fishing for any info about me. In May, I saw her at the gym for the first time. She was wearing sunglasses, and I waved at her casually while on the phone, she gave a quick, dismissive wave and left the gym 3 minutes later.
In June, her friend began watching my Instagram stories again, and shortly after, my ex blocked me on Facebook (even though we were never friends). She deactivated her Instagram after everything ended, but she didn’t reactivate it until August where she blocked me there as well. I didn’t react.
In September, I saw her at the gym again. I smiled and waved to her, trying to keep it casual. She didn’t respond, just raised her hand slowly. Meanwhile, my next film was being promoted everywhere, and she saw it through the gym.
3 weeks ago, I found a water bottle at the gym and returned it to the receptionist, only to find out it was hers. When she picked it up, she got flustered when she learned I returned it. She told them we hadn’t spoken in months and blocked me so it’s odd that I’d return it. I sent her a casual text about the situation and mentioned a movie idea in relation to her canister we had once discussed that took off but didn’t need her to respond.
A week later she saw me at the gym again but I was with the owner and didn’t notice her. Later, she came in the cardio room, saw me up close and then left the gym.
Then 2 days after that she vented to her girlfriend and then two weeks later she told the gym owner where he talked to me privately. What is going on here?

Dude, your ex is clearly not over you yet, even after all this time. Her behavior shows she still has feelings that are getting stirred up seeing your success now. A few things could be going on:
- Jealousy/regret seeing how your life and career took off without her there. Wishing she hadn't let you go maybe.
- Feels left behind now that you're famous and dating other women probably. That rejection stings.
- Blocking/avoiding you is her way of trying to get over you, but clearly isn't working since she keeps seeking you out at the gym.
- Might be testing the waters by asking your friend about you, then getting flustered when you returned her water bottle. Still wants your attention.
- Leaving the gym when she sees you up close shows she isn't indifferent - she's affected.
My advice - keep your distance for now. Don't fully cut her off but don't go out of your way to engage either. She'll either get over it fully in time or maybe realize she misses you. But let her sort her feelings before you make a move. Ball's in her court now, dude. Play the long game!
Thank you brother, much appreciated. Kinda my thoughts exactly, it’s funny because the gym owner and I are friends and literally two weeks after this happened he pulled me aside to talk about it and thought I was calling her all the time from what she told him, and I was huh? I never called her 😂
Man, that's wild! Sounds like she was really going around talking about you to anyone who'd listen. Kinda feel bad for her in a way cause it's clear she's still hung up, but you definitely don't need that kind of drama messing with your vibe at the gym either.
Props to you for keeping it professional tho even when she's acting all cray. Just do your thing and don't give her any more attention than casual what's up nods if you pass by. She'll realize eventually you ain't even trippin about her no more once she sees the success ain't slowing down!
And yo, funny as hell the gym owner really thought you were calling all the time when you weren't even bugging - shows how much she's still griping about the past. Just stay focused on your gains bro and let her work through her stuff in her own way. You're killing it, don't look back!
Find a new gym to go to and stop contacting her.
I never contacted her except one time because she started telling the staff about our past when I returned her water bottle
Seems like you're paying attention to her social media and why do you even still have her number?
I’m not because I’m blocked, I actually moved on and have been seeing someone else, I didn’t care to delete it but her behavior is odd
