Is it weird that as a woman I avoid showing emotion because I dont want to be seen as weak?

I dont cry ever in front of anyone. i've only done that once since i was like 10 and it was because i couldnt contain myself. I downplay any emotion i have to others and i dont admit it when i'm scared or hurt by something. I also have a problem with affection and stuff like that. like i feel weak and embarrassed at times, wether it's with family or guys. i call my family gay a lot when they are too lovey dovey.

I only say no because it seems like you're a woman acting like a guy is expected to act now. It is alienating, and something you should get help for if you want to.
It's stressful to be guarded and paranoid, but you know that no one can hurt you.
At the same time, it is very very difficult to form bonds where you can communicate or rely on anyone, or vice versa.
It's alright to feel any number of emotions. It isn't alright to purposefully hide them from the people that those feelings affect your relationships with. Well, only if you want to keep them that is.

Yes, it's weird. It's not unheard of by any means. But it's quite unusual.

You have trouble with allowing yourself to be vulnerable.

Everything here, sounds super typical of how a lot of guys bury their emotions. You're going through the same sorts of aversion to showing vulnerability.

It's good in situations where you need to be tough or fight. Otherwise, its a handicap. It keeps people from getting as close to you. Vulnerability is a required element to really get close to somebody. (without calling them gay).

It's an over--guarding (beyond what's necessary, and beyond what's ideal) But if you're content being that way, there's no problem with it. As long as it isn't causing a problem for you (in your love life for example) then it isn't something to worry about.
