Compared to men? That’s questionable. The main difference involves both the society in which she lives alongside the community that surrounds her. Now, obviously, a patriarchal society that heavily values feminine beauty, which is only associated with youth, alongside feminine purity and contrasts it with feminine sexual prowess, it basically tells every woman over the age of 30 she’s disgusting and no one will love her unless she can look like she’s 22 again. However, if she has the right community of people around her to support who she is rather than giving into the social pressures surrounding us in the media, she’ll be fine and probably much better off on average.


Men, however, have a different experience in patriarchal society, which thrives in gender roles. The men need to be a specific body type, have a specific lifestyle, and if you don’t have a baby mama or two by 30 then you’re kind of regarded as a loser. The difference is men don’t have the same community that women do as women are encouraged to be vulnerable and emotionally sensitive whereas men are not and, as a result, every male/male relationship they have suffers. When this happens, it’s very easy to fall into that ever-so-common spiral of nihilism and depression until you choose to end your own life.
