Should I feel awkward or no?

So this woman when she came out of the fitting room asked me if I liked the dress and I said yes it looks so cute and I was trying to be nice what we were having a small talk and I was genuinely being genuine to her and then as I put it next to me, she said to me, of course you look good you’re white and in that moment I was rethinking did this woman say what I thought she just said I didn’t respond to her. I’m like how am I supposed to respond to that? I was like looking at her like what in the fuck but I didn’t make it obvious it was very awkward and then she left. I was just having small talk with her house saying the polkadot dress is cute and then she made it about something so off-topic like I don’t know I think I didn’t hear her right thoughts?

What’s the point in feeling awkward now? She’s just some woman you ran into, and will likely never see again. You’re probably feeling this way because you didn’t have the courage to at least ask that she clarify the statement, but there’s nothing to be done about that now. Consider speaking up next time someone says something that you feel uncomfortable with.

Nothing has meaning unless you give it meaning. So you could have just carried on, paid no attention to it. You could have also went w it by saying, “I know right, thank you!” Give her an answer she wasn’t expecting to hear. Now what’s she going to say. You beat her at her own game. Maybe she might day something back but it’s going to catch her off guard so more than likely she won’t know how to respond.

No reason for you to feel anything now. She was the one who made it awkward. It doesn't seem like there is any reason for her to make it racial. It seems like you were just being nice.

I'd forget about it, it's not worth dwelling on, it's kinda too weird to invest emotionally on.
