What does it mean when they say "You are good people" to YOU. It sounds absurd English.

It looks like this is a new term that has come up. What does it mean? Why do they address a single person as "people"?

On the same line, I was with a colleague the other day and he commented on this other colleague and says "I don't mean it badly; she's good people; but..."

A part of the young people are spoiling the languages. You will find such or similar nonsense also in other languages.

To much emotions and a laziness in mind is the result for such. It`s really not to much demand to say "one of the"

I suspect it has Mexican-American (illegal alien) origins. Also compare with the more grammatically correct, infinitely lamer "You're a good person."

just means you have some beneficial qualities to society or that it's good to have your traits. I would take it as a compliment, nothing more, nothing less.
