Well, generally there isn't a rule regarding eye contact, but let's think about it. Reading your question, I noticed that all the guys who had a crush on me always looked away later. They wanted to show they care and desire me. I think it makes sense because girls are generally shy and will not be able to maintain a prolonged eye contact. Plus, it is customary that guys lead; even with initiating contact. So, it would be so nice of a guy to maintain eye contact even when the girl looks away and blushes. It means so much to us. It means you care and you are consistent and devoted. :)
Nahhhh its not a weird question. If you stare too much you might look like a stalker, so wait for her to look away first, or just keep staring. When she asks why you're staring, say "You're pretty" or "I got lost in your eyes". lol good luck :)

I tried this on a girl I caught looking at me. I thought she was going to be the one to look away first. This didn't happen and I think I just creeped her out cause I ended up looking at her for like 5 or 6 seconds and then I looked away. Now maybe if I smiled a little bit while making eye contact maybe it would have been different. But oh well, I was tired and had a long day at school so I bet my facial expression creeped her out.
