How to grow up: Stop being so sensitive, and don't give a damn!

How to grow up. Stop being so sensitive. And don't give a damn.

In today's world, a great many of us men seem to be withering away from what actually made men so great. Not to say, that we have become more tempartmental, where we were once pragmatic, optimistic and full of vitality. And while it is quite flattering that at my age I should be writing this, I felt like I had something genuine to share. This is meant to be a general framework for what I believe are the characteristics a good man must possess.

1) Learn to respect.

No, I'm not saying be a pushover. I'm saying cultivate humility. With humility comes the patience to learn and act. It is the very essence that will sustain your growth as an individual throughout your life.

2) Learn to respect 2.

Respect women. Especially your mother. Ain't no one knows you better. No girl who'll steal your heart later on. No dame will ever compare to your mother.

3) Discipline. Discipline. Discipline.

This is the one quality that has built nations or crushed them. See, Julius Caesar. Having an incorrigible set of mind to achieve your set of goals in a neat, organized manner. Its also very sexy.

4) Read. Learn. Repeat.

Books are so underrated. There is a wealth of wisdom held underneath all that print. To read is to comprehend. I would almost like to think that I've met the great writer. Its so refreshing to develop an insight.

5) Work on yourself. You are what you see.

A good body is a must. Regardless, of what your opinion whether a good physique is actually needed. If you've followed the third step. This must seem natural. Also remember, form must follow function. A strong and healthy body is always better than an aesthetic one.

6) Goals. Yes, of course.

The origins of a superhero. If you want to go anywhere in this lifetime. It is very important set them. Remembering them in your darkest hour will give you the strength to carry on.

7) Meditate.

Like books, this too is entirely underrated. Meditation, to me at least, is a very personal process. Closing your eyes and facing the turmoil inside you requires a great deal of practice. It is nothing exotic, complex or even divine for that matter. Just sit still and feel time pass by, unlocking your deepest and most personal thoughts. It can be a very intenese exercise. Integrate this as a basic function in your everyday life. Just as you live and breathe. Appreciate power and further appreciate the ability to control it. All great thinkers of mankind have excelled in meditation.

8) Remember, its the journey and not the destination.

You start alone on this road, and you'll find an immense multitude of fellow travelers on the road too. But remember, to each one their own. Never be disheartened if someone walks down a path you aren't walking. Follow your path. Appreciate the simplicity of life. Be grateful that even with only necessities that you can achieve great things. Ultimately love yourself and be happy, only then can you see how wonderful this world is.
