What does it mean when he puts his arm around my shoulder?

So a guy in school I know has put his arm around my shoulder twice. We havnt really known each other very long and I want to know of he likes me or if it is just friendly.

I think it might be that perhaps he is silently sending out a signal to all the other guys, hinting to them to stay clear as he is about to hit upon you.

Normally an arm around a shoulder shows some signs of protection as well as friendliness.

Now the question is... Do you like him? :)

If yea , it's just being friendly.
