How to know if your guy-friends have ulterior motives? (guys answer please)?

A lot of times they will do things like lend me their jackets, give me money, pay for my movie ticket (even though I insist I will), drive me places, pass me notes with test answers on them, etc...

I realize this is normal, friendly behavior and I shouldn't be paranoid about it. But I want to know if a guy does these things for a girl because he's being a good friend or because he has other reasons for being such a gentleman?

The sad thing is you can never know. My best advice, get to know the guy. And I mean really know him. If he opens up to you, it shows he's serious. He (or me specifically) wouldn't do thy if I wasn't serious about a girl. Plus there's the whole time investment made that guys looking for just sex won't usually do.

Age, I remember when I was 16, my buddies and I would have banged any girl who was reasonable looking. Sex was a priority and you'd try and open up possibilities anywhere. Personality had no influence at all but it was a bonus if she was nice and you liked her. If I told you any different I would be lying. lol

Yeah it was mostly a case of which girl would accept you and let you in her pants, we weren't picky. That's not actually how it happened for me though, I got a girlfriend and put the work in. Most girls our age back then weren't into one night stands, but lots of my buddies thought they could make it happen at a house party. lol. I've got no idea if the kids are doing that sort of thing more freely these days.

It can be both. If a guy does these things out of nowhere he properbly likes you.

A lot of guys have motives behind being nice, so, it is not you being paranoid, rather smart. Just be wary around them

It does happen, yeah. But it depends on the guy though. I'm personally happy with having female friends right now.
