Trending & News Most of the time it's unmanly, in my opinion.
The exception is, as said before, if you lose a loved one.
Girls and women can say what they want, but they still expect you to be a rock during tough times. Crying usually is linked with a loss of control, and you have to be in control of yourself. Even if you break for whatever reason, you have to regain control ASAP.
When you're in charge of your family, or any group, or when you have to take care of your children in difficult times, you're not even supposed to have the luxury of stopping, reflecting and crying because of the urgency of getting your loved ones to safety.
I think it's something that's biologically inside every man but somehow in the last 50 years there's been a vast tendency to push men to get in touch with their "feminine side". It got so far that I feel sometimes nowadays guys have trouble owning their true "masculine side".
I guess if you're on your own you could get carried away and cry. But I feel like once you have to take care of someone in need, or of some kind of purpose bigger than yourself, the idea of crying will seem absurd. And it's not a matter of bottling up one's emotions, but rather to redirect it and use it as efficient fuel to do whatever you have to do.
Don't listen to what women say about this. Logically we all know crying shouldn't make a man unmanly, but the fact is unless the man has a damn good reason for crying she isn't going to want to have sex with him. So yes it is unmanly for a man to cry because he is under pressure. Now if his mom or dad just died then crying can bee seen as acceptable without the woman losing respect for him.
Society has made it clear men are not suppose to cry, but why does society feel that way to begin with? It is because women aren't attracted to guys that cry. If women wanted to have sex with a guy every time he cried men would have no problem showing emotion.
There is a difference between what a woman logically thinks is acceptable, and the more primitive part of her brain that is responsible for attraction finds acceptable in a mate. This is why women are often conflicted and date the strong cocky guy that mistreats her but has the same traits that would have made him a good protector and provider in the past, over the kiss ass guy that treats her like a goddess the way she knows that she should logically want to be treated in today's society. No matter how evolved we like to think we are, our base desires are the same as more primitive animals.
Personally, I hate crying. I hate when I cry, and I feel really uncomfortable and unsure of what to do when I'm around someone who's crying. That being said I believe that men have just as much of a right to cry as women do, but my feelings on the subject of crying would remain the same regardless of the gender of the person crying.
If my hypothetical boyfriend were to start bawling his eyes out because he's frustrated and things aren't going his way, or his favorite sports team lost, or when it's truly important that he keep it together, then he would lose all respect from me.
If he were crying over the loss of a loved one (be it family, friend or pet), tears of joy at the alter or the birth of his child, or something equally important then it would not change my opinion of him and (in the case of a bad situation) I would do everything I could to help him.
This article provides a pretty decent list of when it is and isn't appropriate to cry as well as a bit of reasoning behind each item on the list. This list is geared towards men but I find most of the situations of when and when not to cry appropriate for women as well.

no i don't think it's unmanly. but that being said, if he cries about everything, that will probably be a turn off because i hate when even i cry because i feel pathetic and get annoyed with myself and i am super awkward when other people cry (depending on what it's about).
Society can go f*uck itself. Men can cry whenever they want.

There are times when it is and when it isn't acceptable for men to cry.
Times when it's NOT acceptable:
- stubbed your toe
- bit your tongue
- basically any physical pain
- you feel stressed out and like your under a lot of pressure
Times when IT IS acceptable:
- you just watched "Old Yeller:
- you just watched "Furious 7"
- you just witnessed your wife give birth to your child
- a loved one passed away
- you read one of those "faith in humanity restored" compilation posts on imgur or reddit
How is this that big of an issue? It's not like girls cry everywhere they go. They cry in private most of the time, which men can do to. And if a man happens to be with someone close to them in private, then of course that person is going to care about what is bothering him, not that he is less manly because he is crying.
Society portrays the cold hard man like James Bond and Christian Grey as favorable. It is a big issue because men end up bottling their emotions and detaching themselves from their inner emotions. Resulting in the inability to distinguish emotions. The other day I asked a man what the difference between pain and anger was, he was sincerely unable to distinguish the two. This may explain why domestic violence perpetrators are predominantly male, because these men have trouble distinguishing pain from anger since society portrays emotionless men as favorable and by extension unable to feel pain. This results in men being unable to distinguish these two emotions. So as soon as a woman causes a man pain a man might hit her.
Women feel ashamed to cry in front of others too. It has to do with not wanting people to see you in a weak state. Christian Grey is tough at first, but if you notice, he starts being more soft towards the end. I personally don't like him specifically, but that is what girls like in general. They like when a guy can show his vulnerability to them after a while cause it shows trust.
No, that's just gender stereotyping and a sexist plague against men that we call toxic masculinity.
You don't need to repress your feelings: you are a human before you are a "man", and being human means you have emotions, being a man means you are of a specific sex.
Progressive opinions!
My guy almost cried in front of me once, but stopped and he apologized for showing weakness. I was confused, and told him he is only human and if he needed to let it out, he should do that. Nothing wrong with it!
The hell with society.
If a guy cries- it doesn't make him unmanly in my eyes. It's okay, every one cries. (Exceot stone hearted people lol)
I would rather date a guy who shows emotion.
Fuck society, when did society did the right thing? When was society right? It's okay for a man to cry. Punch them in the face if someone tells you otherwise.
I think generally, men are more uncomfortable seeing other men cry.
I don't think my man is unmanly when he cries. Neither are others who cry.
We r human, right? I think there is a time and place for being weak.
I honestly.. would feel like the biggest bitch if I were to ever cry in the arms of another man or woman. im talking sobbing, and it really depends on what im crying about.
I wouldn't care if my boyfriend cried. He's human and he can express himself. I actually dislike guys that try to act the "tough" image.
No no no no no no it isn't I mean it is if he is super emotional and sensitive but ehhh he has the right to cry whenever
No, but I dated a chick who called me a "bitch" and a "punk" for shedding tears about something. I was shocked, but realized that she was basically a low class, ignorant ho. Being a man is far, far more than this.
"ignorant ho" lol
Frankly... I am a kind of a person who cry behind closed door of my room... Then comes out smiling like nothing happened..
And its true... Strong ones are not who don't cry but the ones who cry alone.
Death of a family member is the only reason to cry EVER
Thank you for sharing your opinion.
Oh, fuck what high society thinks. It's only human.
I'm not afraid to cry, it's called being Human. Whoever doesn't like it can kiss my ass.

It depends on what you are crying over.
Nothing wrong with crying.
