Why do people think that it's unmanly for a man to cry and express his emotions?

Woman are allowed to express their feelings and cry but men can't. To me it makes me loves them more. My husband has cried before and I always comfort him and when he's vulnerable I take control of everything and be his strength.

If a man crys or displays an emotional side, he is usually seen as emotionally weak.

And someone who is weak will not be seen as someone who is strong.

Therefore, seen as unmanly.

Because men are expected to be the rock and the protector and to hold her when she's down, but when it comes to us, we're supposed to be emotionless robots because any sign of a tear will be perceived as weakness. It's pathetic but that's how messed up the world is.

because it is. every part of society reflects that to men. there's very narowly defined areas in which it is ok for a man to cry. but if a man cries outside of these areas, he will be shunned and not supported or met with empathy. that's a fact.

Why? Because i hear moms all the time telling their boys "Big boys dont cry" or "If you dont stop crying i will give you something to cry about" Or "Are you a girl cause only girls cry" and so on. I have heard those phrases uttered by mostly mothers of boys.

It depends on culture. In most cultures it's not appropriate for men to show positive or negative emotions.
