This guy had been staring at me for half a year, so I tried to get him to approach me, but he didn't?

I never talked to him, I just saw him a lot around my university. He would purposely stare directly into my eyes for multiple seconds as we passed each other and he would stare at me when he thought I couldn't see him. A lot of people said he had to have some sort of interest in me, and I think he actually may have had something for me, since I think we had a lot in common and people tell me I'm very attractive. I know he didn't have girlfriend or anything (overheard him talking) so I thought I would try to make myself approachable since my social anxiety causes me to basically panic when trying to approach an attractive guy.

We walked a similar path at a certain time, so as soon as I saw him coming I walked by him and put myself directly in front of him. He was staring me down as I walked by, and I was waiting to see if he would come up behind me and say something, but he didn't. Looking back, I naturally have a fast pace, so maybe that intimidated him? I'm not sure. I don't see him anymore, I'm just wondering what I did wrong or why he didn't approach me when I placed myself directly in front of him with nothing to make me seem unapproachable. I do wear my headphones a lot and I do like to put my hood up, and I know he saw me like that, so did he maybe read that as "unapproachable" and figure I wouldn't want to be approached either way?

If he really does like you then I think what made him not approach is the fact that he is shy or isn't good at talking to women.. I think I was in a similar situation.

This girl, who I have had a crush on for about 2 and a half years now, would occasionally smile at me from a distance, glanced at me, and all of a sudden started sitting right behind me all by herself or would be near me and all. When this happened (she did it like a few times), I thought to myself that she may have wanted me to approach, but I wasn't sure of her feelings so I didn't approach, plus I am too shy so that played huge a role in it. I think she assumed that I wasn't interested because I stopped seeing her since then because she stopped going to the social gathering we both would always go to.

Headphones tell me that person doesn't want to be bothered. Trying to talk to someone with headphones can make that person feel like a fool if they get ignored, so they may not take that chance.

"How do I make him approach me?" is the most retarded thing I've ever heard in terms of dating.

What's stopping you from asking him out yourself? Do you like him? If so, why are you acting like a knob instead of going after the guy you like?

I had a guy stare at me all year but avoid me if I ever tried to talk to him, and act like I wasn't there if I got close as opposed to across the room. I don't know either.
