This taller girl likes me, she makes it obvious, how do I let her down gently?

I'm 5'7 and she is 6'0 and she likes me, she has even hinted that we should hang out together alone without our friendship group, she constantly compliments me, flirts with me but I just don't want a girl that is around 5 inches taller than me. If she wears high heels then she could end up being 6,7 or 8 inches taller and that doesn't sit well with me, I find it emasculating, so how do I let her down gently and tell her I just want to be friends without hurting her, without revealing the real reason I don't want her and without impacting our friendship group?

Lol... if she's taller you won't be letting her down. Sorry... had to? At any rate, don't let something as silly as height deter you from dating someone you already have things in common with. Her height has nothing to do with your masculinity. Do you feel like less of a man being her friend? I would hope not. The only thing that would change would be that you kiss and share more intimacy.

Finally, if you HAVE to say no, do so in a respectful manner and keep in mind she's a friend so be honest and don't lie about why you're choosing not to go further with her.

I'm sorry but this is terrible advice, I have been friends with her for six years, she's an integral part of my social circle and I cannot simply just ignore her, it's not an option for me, if I ignore her, I upset the social circle and I end up being isolated from it. I also have respect for her and don't believe she deserves to be treated in such a way.

A rejection is not necessarily personal nor is it ever a reflection on a person's physical appearance or personality, I am not rejecting her because there is anything wrong with her, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned insecurity, that's exactly the crux of things. I am a short man and she is a tall woman and it doesn't make me feel good, it doesn't make me feel masculine or manly, it makes me feel like a small boy and that's not good for my ego.

This is one option I am considering, but how will I do this face to face? If I do it by text then that shows a lack of respect, but I cannot do this in the social circle, so my only option is to go out with her one on one and tell her but then she could say well you've taken me out on a date to tell me this? I just don't want to cause any drama or ill feeling between us which will affect my social status.

Ok so what I would do is wait till the whole pack of you are together and pull her secretly aside to tell her how you feel. Tell her you feel this will complicate things and that's not something you want. You want her to be around so you want her friendship. If she truly cares about you as a friend she will come to see that this is best

Height should not matter if you get along have common interests with her, you should feel happy she likes you for who you are. not what others think of you.

Im 5'8 talking with a girl 6'1 who loves heels. I dont care if she is taller or likes to wears heels even if she's 6'3+ in them just more of her to love. its her personality that matters to me. her height to me is a bonus.
