Do girls ever change their mind, or regret rejecting a guy?

I asked out a girl that I work with (part-time while in college) because I was really into her and I thought she was flirting with me when we were around each other; but she had basically told me she was "sort of" involved with someone, though I think she was just fibbing to let me down; on Facebook she says she's single and she had mentioned an EX boyfriend. So I'm pretty sure she's actually single. Anyway, we used to be very chatty and tease each other/joke around but since the night I asked her out she had acted cold toward me, basically ignoring me (I just try and be neutral/friendly and don't act cold to her just normal) but her demeanor/body language seems like she isn't meaning to be cold towards me.

Is it possible she regrets turning me down, or that she was just scared to give me a chance? Her personality is kind of guarded, she tries acting kind of tough and isn't one of those drama-oriented girls and seems to be the type to hide her feelings. Am I just grasping at straws here or is it possible she is acting weird because she is into me? If not, why is she acting so weird about the situation? I knew it would be a bit awkward at first, but thought we would get over it and move on, but she doesn't seem like she could do that.

I think you might have mistaken her very outgoing personality as flirting. a lot of guys do that to me and then accuse me of flirting with them when I'm ACTUALLY trying to be nice. because you showed interest and because she dosen't feel the same way she is coming to realize that it was her outgoing personality that you mistook as being flirty as a result she is trying to be a little LESS outgoing and you see this as being cold now because it is a dramatic "change" in her personality...I do that all the time when I suspect that a guy I don't like happens to show interest in me...i back off and do this by not being as outgoing as before and this would make many of these same guys think I'm being cold...that's just how it happens when girls don;t know how to nicely reject a guy...and when they think they have gone too far as to lead him on...we start acting cold...especially shy girls who hide their feelings. this is most common among us.

I see what you mean, but even her body language and the way she looked at me when talking, and her body language suggested she was flirting, Anyway, she sometimes seems not just cold, but almost annoyed or p*ssed at me, For example, she'll be short with me when I need her help with something about work, and it is always so unnecessary for the situation. I used to look forward to seeing her, now I dread working with her since she makes me feel like such a creep/loser when I'm around her.

It's possible she regrets it, I have before but I usually then flirt MORE and try to give him a sign I'm interested and to ask again. I also agree with Prettypeach, it's possible you mistook her personality because that happens to me a lot, the line between nice and joking around and flirting is really blurry to those of us with outgoing personalities.

I was in the same situation you were, but realistically, as a guy, I would never ask again...even if the girl liked me and would say yes to me. All the guys I've asked about this would not ask again. It feels more like a slap to the face to have to ask again because rejection is painful. If I burned my hand on the stove, I'm not touching it again.

This is where you messed up, if you rejected a guy and you regret it the rules are you have to make the move. Are you just stupid, do you think a guy is gonna ask you out after rejecting him. No, you have to be an adult here and apologize for being superficial (let's face it most people reject based on shallow reasons) and practically beg him to give you a second chance. You can give out all the "signals" you want, the guy is not gonna ask you out again because he thinks you are just confusing him more. You be a big girl and ask him out, that's how it goes, the person who did the rejecting is the one that must ask out if they become interested.

girls can regret, sometimes they get shocked and refuses or maybe she was with her friends when it happens and she doesn't want to do anything rash in front of them. and btw, we like to change our mind

You probably just caught her off guard. You mistook her being flirty as her liking you even her body language. If it were me, I would just back off and let her be. If you ask your out again it's gonna end up with her saying she can't date you for whatever reasons. I was in the exact situation and mistook a girl's flirting and her body language for being into me but really she wasn't and was just being a tease.
