Is crying a turn off?

i just want to know how guys feel about a girl crying. I'm not talking about a long term relationship where your girl cries because you forgot to text or her something.

let's say you've been casually dating someone for a few months and she's come off as very stable and happy and one night happens to cry for a good reason. I know guys hate it when girls cry, but is it ever ok? does a guy ever think less of a girl for crying? and in the moment could it actually turn a guy off? or make the girl seem less powerful?

what I mean by "less powerful" is when you are struggling to keep the upper hand and protect yourself. crying can take away some of that power. I would never want to be taken advantage of, or seen as weak because of it

no, definitely not a turn off, shows the human side of some1. I don't know if "powerful" is the right word. Its gr8 to see some1 show emotion and at least a degree of vulnearablitiy, Infact I would be a little umcomfrtable if a girl didn't cry in a situation that would warrant it. Guys are soemwaht scially conditioned not to cry, but crying is not a measure of weakness. Its also good to experience being there for some1 during a difficult time. When your in a relationship you see a lot of sides of a person, seeing them when they're upset or emotional is no exception. In many ways its a good thing, def not a turn off, at least not for me. Question: do girls find it a turnoff if a guy cries?

No, I'm not turned off when a guy cries. however, he should be crying for a legitimate reason. I had a boyfriend who would cry every time we'd fight or break up and it was absolutely pathetic. not just the fact that he was crying, but the way he was doing it. like loud sobs. it just disgusted me.

but I've seen guys shed genuine tears in the appropriate situation, and if anything, it is endearing. it shows a sensitive side and like you said, a "degree of vulnerability"

Everyone needs to break down sooner or later. Even the best or most stable of us need to release built up emotion after a while. I've never disliked when a girl cried in front of me, though I do feel very bad and try to make her smile again. When someone cries in front of me it gives me the satisfaction of being close enough for them to open up, it scares some people to make themselves vulnerable like that. It's understandable, normal, and shouldn't be taken in a negative way. Especially if there is a good reason behind the tears.

I would be surprised if I ever found a girl who didn't cry at some point. It's just one of those things that I expect. However, if I'm in a relationship with her, then I would at least want her to tell me what she is crying about when she does cry. As I have told my girlfriend, when she starts crying, I want to know why. If she won't tell me, then I automatically assume the worst, that it is my fault. Unfortunately, some girls cry for no apparent reason (although, I think the most common actual reason for this is stress relief), which I can't really relate to or empathize with, so I just sit there with the feeling that I should be doing something, and yet I feel as though anything I would do is the wrong thing to do.

In short, I expect her to cry at some point.

I've never thought any less of anyone, man or woman, for crying when it's appropriate to do so. You can be strong, and still cry. In fact to show healthy emotion in front of others, when the need arises, and not giving a shi* what others will think of you, proves how strong you can be. A weak person will attempt to hide such things from others. Besides I'm the kind of person that would take the opportunity to console the woman, and be there for her. So no, it would never be a turn off for me.

If it's for a good reason, I don't see the big deal. The only thing that concerns a man when a girl cries, is that we feel the need to find the reason. But it's mostly not a turn off to most men.
