"shitting in the car door" hahahah nice typo...
If you're at SCHOOL...
If you're in the USA, there are LAWS that REQUIRE teachers, as well as staff (school nurses etc), to report "suspected abuse" to the police and/or other authorities.
They may HAVE to do this -- even if their suspicions are otherwise.
Their job may actually be on the line if they don't. Like, they may be disciplined, suspended, fined, or even fired -- and, in a worst-case scenario, prevented from finding other employment in the area, too -- if they fail to follow this protocol.
It's one of those things that's a MUCH bigger deal than you think it is, especially if you happen to live somewhere where there's been some lack-of-reporting scandal recently (like, some student WAS being abused, but teachers/nurses let it slide).
You can check on the specifics of the law where you live with Google. But, if you are in the States, rest assured that school personnel will *definitely* receive this kind of thing more seriously than you currently think (judging by the tone of yr post).
Yr best bet is to proactively go talk to school nurses and teachers ahead of time. Principals and administrators, too -- whoever would be the first contact with police, if it came to that.
Even better, have yr parents give the school a call or send a signed note with you (or both), if you are under 18, and hand that note to the front office staff and/or nurse's office. Maybe 2 copies, one for the front office and one for the nurses. You can NEVER be too careful with this shit.
If you live outside the USA, I really can't say.

yeah, it would be my first guess that somebody got beat up if they were walking around with a black eye
Well I'd be really careful not to bump into you if the brusies are very noticeable. I might comment and ask how you got them.
And if I was dating a girl and she got bruises I might be hesitant to hug her or rest my arms on her in kinda fear that I might hurt her if my arms would be pressing the bruised areas.
They see violence, everyone does.
Its the most common explanation, and isn't their fault that its the first thing they think of.
