WHY DO MEN HATE BEING CALLED FOR GAY?

Why? My friends never get mad when someone is calling them lesbian. And so I am bisexual and I have never been mad at someone that has called me for gay...

But when it comes to guys... they explode. EXPLODE. Why? Even white guys get mad no matter what. Can someone explain?

Being gay is associated with being feminine (Which might not always be true, but that's the way society views it), i. e. it insults a man's masucilinity. On the other hand, I can't think of anything negative being lesbian is associated with. At least not straight away, though there might still be something. Being feminine? Masculine? Nah, I don't see it.

I know a gay man who looks so masculine and buff, I literally had no idea he was gay. He doesn't even act gay... but he is. So this whole "not masculine " bullshit is not always true.

Masculinity isn't just about the way a man looks, but also the way he behaves, the way he's "built" so to speak. Being homosexual has always carried the stigma of being not up to the standard. Therefore unfit. Therefore weak. Therefore liability. And that is unacceptable. Especially when the man knows he's neither of those. That is why we translate it as slander and a threat. For most men being called gay is kinda being called weak or pathetic. The ability to filter out such insults is developed in puberty simply by being on the receiving end (verbal or physical). That is why a kid a lot more likely to lash out and fight if he's insulted compared to an adult man.

@Phantomium Kind of why I said he doesn't even "act gay" so I couldn't tell he was even gay in the first place. Gladiators in the past were often known for being homosexuals as well. So again, bullshit.

Maybe I didn't explain it properly. You can be a gorgeous woman but if some girl calls you fat or ugly or whatever you will accept this as an insult. For most men, being called gay is kinda like calling them unfit for being with a woman, which is kinda the baseline for our self-esteem.

Generally speaking women were traditionally expected to be chaste, pretty and sweet.

So the biggest insults for women are the opposites: slut/whore, ugly/fat, bitch.

Men were expected to be tough, able to provide, sexually virile.

So the insults are pussy, basement dweller, fag/virgin who can't get laid.

it's sad to me how often on feminist leaning sites men are mocked for having emotions, for probably being unable to get laid, etc. I'm not saying this to bash feminists, but it's sad they don't realize how much they're running gender stereotyping and promoting basically traditional patriarchal masculinity!
