Could a shy guy ignore a girl he likes?

Me and 3 other guys met to watch a football game. One of them is my crush, and we didn't really know each other. We talked so much that night and had an amazing time! It really seemed like he was into me. He is known for being really shy so I was surprised he was hitting on me so much that night.
The next day at school, he didn't say anything to me or even looked at me. He kept talking to my friends but acted like I wasn't there.
He eventually invited me to join the gym he goes to and we have been meeting there. When my friends are around he always ignores me but when they are not he is really sweet and funny.
The other day he invited me to go to the beach with him, alone. We had a great time. But now he seems so distant again... I'm worried he might have lost interest in me.

So, do shy guys ignore the girls they are interested in?

yess the shy guy ignores the girl they like as shy guys are mostly introvert so they do not speak to their crush ND not when others are seeing as they will definitely make fun of that introvert guy saying that he likes you ND all ND then if he really likes you then also he can't speak that thing as they are really shy ND thinks thT what would a girl react when they speak the things like love ND phicical relations I m also a 18 year old guy probably you would say m kid but I have experience more so if you think my advice is true and helpful do reply me or just acknowledge me

sounds like a form of social anxiety type thing. my advice, talk to him. If it really bothers you let him know.
He may not even realise what he is doing because he is just focused on dealing with his anxieties.
Or he may not realise it bothers you.

Yes! Yes! they do.
They really dont open up easily , but if he is open to you i guess he really likes you. I guess he mostly talks with you when you both are alone, and thats definitely a shy guy. They get nervous talking to the person in a group , that they like or might even ignore them completely in such situations. The ignoring thing is completely either out of nervousness or he dosent know how you feel about him. I can tell this , because i used to be that type of guy.

I am very shy and awkward. I've liked a few girls over the span of these last few years, and will try to talk to them, but I just don't want it to be too awkward, and I'm​ always afraid of rejection. Most of the time there isn't many opportunities to talk to someone in private (especially when the girl is always with friends). So, I can answer with a definite yes. Guys will do this.

Depends on how you look at it. He might be hesitant to make a move. Talk to him one on one. Ask him questions about him. If he gives you short answers, he is not into you.

Yes , mostly 70% guys lose the girl they really want out of shyness

in this case girl if aware should try become more friendly to them , coz once adapted the shy guy can be the most amazing guy sometimes and can surprise u down the roads
