No, no it most definitely is not a bad thing. In fact I see it as something good. Ignoring our preferences only serves to create an unhealthy mindset. But just make sure you don't date some chick solely because she's thick and white, other important factors come into play like compatibility with each other, respect for her as a person, etc.
E. g. dating someone who looks like the girl of your dreams, but is a total bitch to people around her. That doesn't ever play down well. So essentially don't date someone completely based on your preference for how they look. But you don't seem like an idiot so I'll rest assured you won't do that.
So basically go for someone you know you'd be good with, and if she also fits the description of thick and white, even better for you. There's nothing wrong with having a preference but do keep in mind it'll limit your available options.
