As a sober alcoholic, I can declare with confidence that many drinkers & users assume that straights think they are better than users. I lost a lot of friends when I quit drinking, though I never once harshly judged my friends for doing exactly what I had done with them for years. Every other person I've spent time with in active recovery has had the same experience. It's kinda sad, but even if I had known ahead of time that that was going to happen, I'd still clean up. Sometimes sacrifices must be made, and I'm now healthier, happier, wealthier, and I don't spend any time in jail and courts.
If you don't drink or party every weekend that's perfectly ok, and can be admirable, however bragging about it shows insecurities. I wouldn't want to date a girl that brags about not drinking and shames others for it, and she likely wouldn't be interested in me.

Oh I see. Phew 😅I was hoping that I didn't come across as narcissistic when mentioning this to a friend. I do have friends who smoke and drink, which I also mentioned to this friend.
For whatever reason I can't read your whole reply. If you have friends that drink and smoke and in general make poor life choices like myself, you can certainly talk about you, and the fact you don't partake shouldn't make them uncomfortable.
Well the quote above is quite mean to the girls that actually do drink. And just because girls drink doesn't mean they are drama queens or sluts. Same with guys. There's limits. To me not drinking just means you don't like drinking. Not at all superior. Just we are different when it comes to tastes.

The quote above comes off as big headed or un humble but to answer your question, what does not drinking have to do with superiority, alcohol tastes awful and it's easier NOT to drink it than to drink it.

When you say it like that, yeah it comes across as a superiority issue. Saying you still exist, as though a rose among the thorns is subtly putting down those who do make other choices
I don't drink alcohol. I don't think I'm superior at all. I've got good reasons to not drink it, but it's my choice and if other people want to drink it's fine by me.
Not at all. Do what you want. Doesn't make you any better or anyone any less than anyone else. Do what makes you happy. It's better when peolle think nothing of themselves. I dkn't do street cred or social status. I don't care. It is what it is. And im not bothered what it is. As long as im happy with my actions and the actions of who im with. That's all that matters to me.
I agree with those who say that stating it that way you seems superior, but not doing it, or doing it with moderation is just a personal choice, a wise one too I would say. I don't drink a lot, yet I don't understand people who don't even want to sip it, it seems as if it were evil for them xD
It's a good thing to take care of yourself; don't smoke so your lungs don't give out; don't drink so you stay conscious all the time- what makes girls seem to have a superiority complex is when they flaunt these things in the dating scene.

Well as a non drinker I don't think I'm superior to anyone, the only reason I don't drink is because my family has a bad history with it. I'd never judge anyone who drinks.
Don't know, probably not. Unless it's for religious reasons and they're like "Jesus or Allah (or some other dead desert barbarian) loves me so much cuz I don't drink"
Yes, they are superior in one way. But, if they like it and, are holding themselves back, they're not. One should enjoy lives to their fullest. Even, I don't drink, smoke, party or, even don't eat non veg but, I do it willingly.
Haha, unfortunately I did... she left me because of her career... she must avoid every kind of distraction right now she said, so I don't really know who would I date anymore...
Depending on other facts unknown to the GaG community you could be in the top percentile of healthier people. So yes you could be superior.

Some people that drink and/or do drugs to get really messed up voice that opinion. Often some folks get uncomfortable when you act differently, no matter the circumstance.
