Why did my crush call me ma’am?

So today I went to my crush’s job and I was standing in line to order from him, there were some older ladies probably in their 50’s in front of me and he was talking to them all polite like “what would you like to order today ma’am, have a nice day ma’am” which I thought was cute. But THENN it was my turn to order so I did (we don’t know each other but we have the whole staring/smiling thing going on right now) but then when I said “thank you” he said “you’re welcome ma’am” He called me ma’am!! Is this something guys say to girls they might like? I know I am NOT much older than him, I’m probably like 3-4 years older than him. I’m in Texas so I don't know if that might be why lol. I don't know tho, I wouldn’t call him Sir... sounds weird to call a male close to your same age Sir. So I don't know why he would call me ma’am

Texas I lived in San Angelo for years. He was just in a zone saying ma'am. He was being polite and were just behind them Im sure he felt lime an idot. If it happens again play with it tell him you ain't a grandma then call him grandpa flirt joking the ask when he gets break.

Yeah I’ve done it once , I called my brother ma’am after I just gotten off the phone talking to some lady. Lol there was another girl around my age right in front of me but I didn’t get to hear if he called her ma’am.

I told my boss i loved him between calls at the time with him and my girlfriend at the time work was kinda awkward the next day lol

I'd call that a Freudian slip. Essentially the ma'am was still stuck in his head

Well, I don't think guys in general would say this to someone they find attractive, if It was like a joke it's fine I think, but if he really called to ma'am, that's a red flag.

Some times its just the way people talk and theyre used to it.

When someone my age tells me to do something i often say "Yes ma'am" or "yes sir" jokingly.
