Why don't people wear hats anymore?
seriously
Well, for one thing, to prevent a hat from messing up the hair, you have to have an obscene about of goop and grease in it.
I prefer not.
I also prefer not to have to take it off and put it on whenever I get in my car or enter a building or whenever I'm in an elevator with a lady.
I prefer to not chase it down a street on a windy day
I prefer to have less sh*t than I can carry
I prefer not to be overheated in the summer
I prefer to live in the 21st century.
No... I use this really cool invention called "sunglasses". They protect my eyes. And since I am not particularly affected by the sun on my hair, I still find hats generally useless and annoying.
I don't know where you're buying your sunglasses, but around here, the cost is comparable, if not less than a hat. As for location, I suppose you're right. Here in Minnesota, we only wear hats if we need to keep warm in the winter. And I don't spend enough time outside to care.
OK SilentG, hats aren't in style right now. Style, fashion, trends - things go in and out of fashion. Such is life.

You say "downgrade," I say woke up.
Because people wear suits less outside of work, and without the suit no hat. Likewise, basketball and major league sports are more in fashion - hence baseball caps. It has to do with middle class values becoming more profitable for companies selling clothing. They can sell 1000s of baseball caps to people of all income levels for good money, while only wealthy people would buy fedora hats. This is also related to America's current identity, in particular as it relates to European countries.
Fashions goes through different fads and styles every year. That's why certain colors are the rage every year, diverse types of shoes like the UGG boots a couple years ago etc. At the end of the day, who really gives a f***? I mean clothes and accessories are part of the person and his/her personal style and expression. If you want to wear a hat then do what you want and will make you feel good. Isn't that what matters?
I'd give them a great big smile back and imply "f*** you" with my eyes.
Wish I knew. I dig that kind of thing, haha. Most people look like tools when they try to pair a fedora with anything casual. If you're not wearing a blazer/suit jacket and/or button down shirt of some kind and/or snazzy dress shoes, you shouldn't be wearing a fedora, haha. As long as you've got two or more of those elements, you could probably get away with wearing JEANS with a fedora. But only then. =P
Ever since I was introduced to the fedora, I absolutely ADORE fedoras! I think that the aforementioned tweed suit and fedora/hat look is /very/ nice and classy, but perhaps a bit /too/ formal for casual settings to most people. (They really spice up any guy for me.)
I personally couldn't wear it because I don't know how to dress for wearing one. Tips are welcome if you're willing!
Oh, they're very nice and don't seem too formal at all! The last fedora thing looks like a cross between a bonnet and a fedora though.
Thanks :D They look so cute/sophisticated/casual with the outfits.

The world is changing, and the people change with it. When I look at pictures from the early 1900s, all guys wore suits, and all women wore dresses with long skirts, high heels and funky hats. It's all changed because of society and many other factors. Who knows what people will be wearing by 2100.
I have a tweed suit my grandfathers evening wear. I happen to wear old traditional Irish caps daily and own several and I own and wear a fedora with my suit the fedora is a suit only hat.
What?Where do you live?Almost everyone I see wears fedoras now. It's the new fad now unfortunately, because I'm rather fond of fedoras.Myself,I'll wear a beret or derby on occasion, whatever the hell makes me happy.
Of course,I'm a natural!
I personally don't wear hats because it takes too much damn time in the morning to do my hair,
and I won't let a hat mess it up.
Not a fan of fedoras but I'll wear a baseball type cap sometimes.
Fedoras are probably more for special occasions but there's no law to say you can't wear one if you want.
hehe, you should see my purple plaid fedora, I love it...I'm a huge hat person
'40, '50, '60...today's everything in! you can combine things and make up your own style...
