On my first date with my future wife, we left the restaurant and stood in the parking lot talking for a long time. When we went to leave, we discovered that the gate had been locked. I hopped over a 6' cinder block wall and had the restaurant let us out. My wife retold that story over and over to her friends. The way she tells it, though, I was like a superhero or ninja. Lol

Another time, when we were still dating, we were riding in the back seat of a car and a couple she knew were in the front. The woman said something and my wife responded spontaneously, without a second though, "Oh, [Lliam] can do 'anything'!" The woman in front turned around with a wide eyed expression and then glanced at her husband to silently say "Yep. She's definitely in love." Lol

My wife makes me feel special all the time with little things. She asks me questions about things or asks for my advice and makes me feel smart and wise. When walking, she'll put her hand in mine and makes me feel loved, like I'm her knight in shining armor. When I do some task around the house, she makes me feel like Superman. When she comes up to stand in front of me, wraps her arms around me and looks up into my eyes, she makes me feel like a man.

It's a great feeling to be looked up to. I look up to her, as well. She is hard working and I also look to her for advice and wisdom. We're a team.

I sincerely hope the world never dims your light laurie. This is the second of your questions that I've commented on so far and you have a beautiful spirit to be asking these types of questions.
I wish I had someone to believe in me like I was some kind of superhero. I wish i had someone to believe in and make her feel like a superhero.
My hope for the kind of love you see is fading but it should never be underrated to make another person feel good.

I'm not deluded into thinking so highly of myself. I'm a man, simple as that, and I don't need someone to bolster my opinion, as I tend to ignore comments about it in general, though I'll listen to criticism more often since growth will come from being uncomfortable, and challenged.
Someone placating my ego is not beneficial to me, or to them, if we're to grow together in a relationship. Should they show they love me? Yes, that's simply done by spending time with the other, and learning about them, caring, being selfless, and otherwise being excellent. We then build off that foundation.

I'm not sure exactly how women see men, I guess as a hero to protect them is part of it but I can't really guess at the minutia of what goes through their minds. I do know that some women are way more interested in who I am and others more in what I can do for them. The deeper the woman thinks the more interested I am in her is all I can say.

My girlfriend makes me feel like I'm the most amazing strongest and best looking man that ever lived and she truly believes it she's not just saying it to make me feel good :). I've actually gotten jaded when it comes to compliments in general. Besides family, very few people give me praise without an ulterior motive behind it. People aren't really interested in my life enough to compliment a lot.

Well in regards to my last ex she made me feel mostly inadequate. This being by way of her always wanting more things. Shoes, trips, food whatever. It wasn't that she just always wanted so much stuff, but it was always really expensive things and I'm pretty frugal with my money. I wanted to get her stuff but couldn't always. Also, I'm not very attuned to ppls emotions. I'd try my best to be good, attentive to her needs and always think about how things would make her feel, but I never for any confirmation or assurence from her so I always felt inept/inadequate when caring for her emotions. Didn't really have any problems in the bedroom, and we got along great and had lots of amazing (at least IMO) experiences togeather, strangely we had a lot of different interest which was cool bc we could do our one thing when we needed or couldn't be togeather as I'm a bit of an introvert and sometimes just need a bit of space. It would aslo work well as we where broadening each other interests. Anyways, I'm rambling. What eventually happened was every time I couldn't get her (insert whatever) shed get upset and have a bad mood for a few days really making me feel like crap. I couldn't talk to her about anything even when I said I just what to know how she feels so I can start to remedy the situation, as in my opinion communication is very important in a relationship. She eventually dumped me saying I was to emotionally unavailable.

It's a great sentiment.. and I agree with the idea that those three things will keep a man satisfied. Although, I can tell you from my experience. I didn't sit around and dream of my girl when she had at least two of the three. And those two were pretty darn good. She could cook some great food, and was a firecracker in bed. But my days were and still are filled with thinking about success and my next move. I was never really caught up and thinking all day about my girl, because I knew it would be ready when I got home. Success for me is about as important or probably more then sitting around daydreaming about good food or great pussy. Now mind you. I didn't say I didn't value them and they aren't important. But what's on my mind is accomplishing my goals and having a level of success and a legacy to pass on... so I can't agree that I would be distracted or thinking about my girl all day.. because thay wouldn't be true.

But if your gift of that is the only way the person you're giving it to feels "special", then you are not helping them.

What if you're dead, sick, or you two drift? All of a sudden, that other person is left in a lurch.

If you really loved them, you'd help them see they're special as they are, for themselves.

It is unhealthy to allow them to believe otherwise.
