Why would a guy talk about hypothetical marriage?

I've been out on several dates with a guy, we've also been chatting a lot on social media. And during the conversations he repeatedly touches the question of marriage, particularly hypothetically marrying me. Like this: "If we were married now, how would this be?" I was wondering why would a guy say stuff like this repeatedly? To test my reaction? But we are not even dating yet, we are in the very beginning of what might be a relationship.
