Straight men, do you feel uncomfortable around gay/bi men?

I’m gay (or bi, whatever, I don't know anymore) and the most annoying thing is when straight men always assume that I’m attracted to them or that I’m going to hit on them. And it’s always the UGLY straight men who think it too. Like sweetie, WOMEN don’t even hit on you so what makes you think...

lmao I’m jk. All jokes aside, I really am curious to real answers. (Please no ignorant ass responses, I don’t have the energy) I’ve met a couple guys in the past who said they were uncomfortable with hanging around me or other gay men out of fear that they will be hit on.

Nah, doesn't bother me at all. I am strongly pro-intermingling, in all forms. Segregation never works.
I have usually known pretty evolved people, and sometimes they grow more comfortable with things, getting to know me.
The only thing I've noticed is that some men may not feel entirely comfortable around gay guys who act very effeminate, but in particular, sort of a snide, snippy attitude - like judging people, being superficial, vain, catty. Those are personality traits that most people don't want to put up with, unless they themselves are also like that.
I like when people are out, and casually open about their sexual preferences. It can be a shock to find out one day, if it's trying to be kept a secret. I have no problem with being whomever they want to be, as long as it's fairly upfront. I have wondered about some people being bi, and usually when I am unsure, or don't know, it turns out to be true. Just like with everyone in life, it feels better to have clarity, and know where people stand. That's all.

I've noticed a similar phenomenon around straight women sometimes.

I have to say that I don't have any gay men in my social surroundings that I can claim as a friend but with this being said I do have a problem with some of the gay men I have encountered who seem to thrive on being loud, obnoxious, rude and portray themselves as being the best thing ever but seem to be extremely doubtful of anyone actually wanting to deal with the drama of them. I'm not trying to stereotype but I have seen the number of gay men who behave in this manner all over the country. Just chill and be your true self.

I have a gay friend that does voice acting for disney and He is one of the most colorful people I have ever met so no I don't feel uncomfortable around Him. He did have a husband though that gave Me the creeps because every time I talked to Him I felt like He was looking at a piece of beef.

Nah, I don't feel uncomfortable around gay or bi. I see no reason for it. It's not like you are always on the hunt for prey among us straight men. XD
Anyway, if by chance they were interested in something with me, I can simply decline and keep being friends. There shouldn't be any problem with that.

It doesn't bother me. Some gay men, like some women, are just assholes. Especially after a few drinks, but that's nothing to do with their gender or orientation. I'm sure most of the time, I don't even know who's gay because unless they're close friends or have their partner with them, it just doesn't come up.

I have a very close friend who is gay. I never suspected it until he told me he was, but I told him it does not matter to me. Everyone has sinned before God and God does not view one sin as worse/better than another. Therefore I am not to judge someone. I will tell people it is a sin if the discussion comes up, just like I would someone who drinks excessively or gets into fights easily. Just because I voice a difference does not mean I am uncomfortable around them.

Even as a teen I wondered why men feel threatened by gay men.

It's probably because questioning a guys sexuality is a common control tactic used by abusive women. It's like when a guy says he's happy single, you always get some random women saying he's gay or has a small member or is insecure it etc etc..

I don’t, but in my younger days I was fully into that machismo culture of “you’re gay if u hang out with someone gay”.


It wasn’t until midway through university (around age 19), when i kicked that habit and stopped being toxically masculine about that.

I hit the rave scene hard 10-15yrs ago and met a lot of gay/bi guys through friends and nightclubs etc and met some of the nicest, most honest and trustworthy people I ever have and never made me feel uncomfortable at anytime.

No- in truth, I rarely think about other people's sexual orientations, unless I'm making a move on them or think they're flirting with me. I'm capable of being hit on without bursting into flame; maybe those other guys aren't.

No not particularly, I find camp gay guys irritating but I don't care usually, can think of a couple of times where a gay guy has made me uncomfortable but that was entirely justified

I've never been hit on by a gay dude in my life. I've had many gay guys tell me that if they know you are straight (which they always do) they have zero interest in YOU. Always been true.

No, My last girlfriend had one or two female friends and about 12 gay guys as friends. It was fine as we were all respectful of each other. They were into a lot of drugs. Is that common in the gay community?
