Why would a guy always ask you "what are you doing tonight?" or "what are you doing now?" but then never invite you to hang out?

Maybe, but it depends... are you in a relationship? Are you friends? Does he have feelings for you?

If you're in a relationship, he's probably keeping tabs, UNLESS you tell him you're doing something. Then it's pretty obvious... he wants to do something but you're busy. In this case, what are you responding?

If you're good friends, it might be just curiosity. Or he might be planning something, i.e. a party or a situation where you can hang out but either you or him don't have the time. This is also a possible explanation if you're in a relationship.

If you're just friends and maybe he has feelings for you, perhaps he's trying to figure out how to invite you out to something but doesn't know how, or is too shy to do it.

Don't automatically assume he's a stalker or something, that's not only ignorant but downright rude.

He does it a lot. That would make sense- we aren't good friends but we are friendly. I don't think he is a stalker. I've never said that.

Anyways, if you want him to pull the trigger, add 3 letters to your response... why? "I'm at my friend's house, why?" "I'm mowing the lawn, why?" "I'm conquering the Strait of Gibraltar, why?" You put him on the spot, and now he has to explain... this can either clarify his motives, or get him to ask you out.

Well, if you're just friends then he might be trying to build up the courage to ask you out. Otherwise, it's possible something else is going on.

The next time he asks, tell him and then ask why. If he won't say why, then something else is going on.
