+1 yIt varies. I’m in the best shape of my life right now at 42, and I meet younger people at concerts who assume I’m in my 20s. That’s partly due to my genetics and young looking face, but I also make it my business to not let myself go. But around 30, it could have, and almost did, go straight to hell, haha. Suddenly you can’t eat recklessly anymore, etc. Took me a while to get a grip on that. I’m where I’m at today because I don’t really eat carbohydrates or sugar, kind of a ketogenic thing, high protein, high unsaturated fats, low-to-no carbs and sugar. It’s actually surprisingly easy to eat this way, and when I allow myself a “cheat meal”, I often don’t enjoy it like I used to, because I don’t have that sugar addiction anymore. All of a sudden i’m like “jesus, this is WAY too sweet.” Pizza is still just as delicious as ever though, and cheeseburgers too😂 I just go without most of the time, but taking my shirt off confidently at the beach gives me way longer-lasting satisfaction than pizza. I don’t even work out crazy hard, kind of the same as always, other than I play hockey three days a week for a couple hours at a time. It’s good cardio, but I don’t feel like it’s different from when I played other sports or ran on a treadmill. It’s 100% my diet that got me here, there’s no real secret to it. Four months ago I weighed 15-20 lbs more, I looked fine with a shirt on, but not great without one. Now I like what I see in the mirror a lot better. So it can be accomplished without living in a gym, for anyone out there looking for the inspiration.
Other stuff…. it’s genetics. I’m blessed with a VERY full, almost annoyingly full, head of hair, while many of my friends are starting to get a little thin up there. Ironically, I’ve always had a pretty severe widow’s peak so it looks like I’m balding up front anyway to the untrained eye😂, but it’s been that way my whole life, lmao. I’d say for your purposes, maybe 35 was when I started seeing guys start to change into “visibly middle aged”, due to weight gain and sometimes hair loss. I think life starts beating you down around that age and caring for yourself can go by the wayside.
But the short answer is, it varies.23 Reply- +1 y

+1 yDo you mean physically, mentally, or both? Now, one thing that I have noticed with time is that guys that were my age 15+ years ago (I'm 20) and that tended to be a normal weight, higher body fat, have gained considerable amounts of it now that they are reaching 40, same with girls. Whereas the underweight kids that were naturally thin, but fit, low body fat, etc. are at 35-45 physically in far better shape than their peers are now. My doctor that I've had since a kid, is 64 years of age, white, no grey hair, still naturally auburn red, yeah he has a few wrinkles, but he's 6'4 and doesn't have an ounce of fat on him. He's skinny, but pretty much classed as ripped for someone of his weight (75-80kg) and he looks far better than men his age that is pushing 70. Probably due to the fact that he knows how to keep himself physically and internally healthy.
Anything from stress, genetics, poor lifestyle choices, alcohol, substance abuse, etc. Can honestly age any person. If you're talking about sexual market value, that stuff doesn't tend to matter once you get over 35. There are far more important things to worry about in life as you get older other than who's going to shag me? Overdoing it with sex can send signals from your sexual organs, can age you a bit scientifically, especially for women. So just getting on with your life and not fucking around in your teens and 20s can do you a world of good really00 Reply
For men, their prime is late 20s- early 30s. Anything after that is going down hill. Mid 30s is when you start seeing guys going bald and gaining weight. White hairs, dull skin, wrinkles tend to start appearing in late 30s.
But it really boils down to genetics. I've seen some guys start growing a huge bald spot in early 30s.00 Reply

It depends on what your expectations are. No one can look young and at their best forever. The same with women. No one escapes time.
Some guys age very well and can look better over time, many women like mature men. Until they hit maybe their 60’s and the body just starts to really show age. But that’s okay it’s normal life. It’s what is in the inside that age can’t touch that really matters. No one can stay young forever.10 Reply558 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Around the time they expect to. Not being funny here. I've got friends ten years younger than me who look ten years older. I regularly get asked when I stopped aging.
I'm 49 now but get mistaken for 39 regularly, but in my early 20s my dad was mistaken to be my younger brother. I've not changed much, just a touch of grey in my beard and thanks to losing my leg last year I've built muscle across my shoulders & arms I didn't have 15 years ago.

Its the truth our words/thoughts have such an impact on our lives! Its very eye opening! So to see an intelligent answer here is great!
Depends on the person, genetics, lifestyle.
I have seen men in their 30's who worked outside all their life, smoked, and with a facial hair, they look real old.
I have seen 60 year old men who take care of themselves and they don't look 60, but they don't look 40 for most.
And some rare occasions, I have seen 80 year old guys that looked 60. They loved life, lived well, ate good, and didn't abuse their bodies.
But I have seen elderly men at 70. It goes in all directions.00 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. As with bee colonies, males exist to disperse... and diversify 'seed' DNA.
As far as Nature's evolution is concerned... human culture moves males into a 'communal citizen' guardian-of-the-tribe paternal mode. Eventually... this evolves to the 'wise Elder' Senior Statesman persona.

+1 yDepends on what you mean by down hill. Biologically decline starts at thirty for men and women. However men age slower then women and have thicker skin and denser bones and more muscle mass then women so its affects don't usually show up until later compared to women (though how you live your life also matters, hard living tends to age you up faster). So it depend on the man but in general I would say fourties or maybe fifties is when you start getting significant decline, again, if we ignore personal choices genetic predispositions life style etc. etc.
09 Reply- +1 y
@Yyyyu Your really defensive. Nothing I stated is in question, that is just the scientific reality (you can read the relevenat literature yourself if you want to learn more about it). Never said men don't go bald or lose their stamina, I said we age slower and hit our decline later then women do as women start their incline at an earlier age then men (again, this is just the scientific reality, its not a judgment call. Women start developing sooner and thus decline sooner then men do).
- +1 y
@Yyyyu I never said that. I said the decline doesn't become noticable until around fifty if they have taken good care of themselves. This is also applicable to women. I find it interesting that your fine with the idea that you will develop sooner, but the idea that this means you peak sooner that is the issue. Your fine with the idea that men's peak is shorter and less pronounced then a womans but if we dare suggest women peak sooner, this is the line that must not be crossed. Again, your really defensive.
George Clooney is sixty years old. Ryan Gossling is fourty. Most hollywood leading men are over the age of 35, most are in their fourties. their is a reason for that as I have pointed out. You don't have to like it, but it is reality.
I mean imagine if I threw a fit because you suggested women develop sooner then men, would that be reasonable? Of course not because we all know that is the case, younger guys get screwed because women peak earlier and go after older guys (this is a statistical fact), as guys age we peak later and tend to go after younger women (statistical fact). This is reality, you get to reach your peak sexual market value at a younger age then men do, no one is begrudging you this so why are you angry at the idea that a man reaches his later in life? You can't have it all no matter how angry you get no matter how much you deny scientific fact. This is reality their is no altering it no matter what you or I want (do you seriously think I enjoyed not having a high sexual market value when I was younger and having to wait for that? No. So yes, your not going to be happy realizing that your value declines after twenty five but that is reality, you can bitch about it or you can prepare for that and make sure you choose wisely now so you have your affairs in order and have taken good care of yourself now so that it hits you softer then it does others. The choice is yours.
+1 yMen have virtually no social/sexual market value, until either our early or mid 30s because women aren't interested in a man that can't provide certain comforts. Because we have to wait longer for this value to happen, we get to enjoy the value for longer. Our value lasts for about 20-30 years and declines after that point. Women come into the social/sexual marketplace with high value at 18, peak their market value at around 22, and ride a slight decline in value until 30 when you see the first drop off of female social/sexual value and then you see it vanish overnight in women's mid 30s. By 40, women aren't even really considered women anymore, they're just things that are there, walking slow, and holding up register lines with completely unrealistic complaints or expectations while they demand the manager.

So if I grow out my beard and not colour it people (young guys) will make their stupid jokes and say "bro are you 50?". At the end of the day, I can jog 5 miles, I can play 2 hours of basketball and feel like I can go for another 2 hrs. I feel young at heart so the colour of my facial hair doesn't mean anything. I avoid over exposure in the sun and drink a lot of water, I don't party, I try to get my 6-7 hours of sleep plus a 1-2 hr nap, I don't drink booze, I don't do drugs. I don't get this thing with aging, when you're a teenager its natural to look young because that person is a teen lol. dating doesn't get better as you get older. as you get older, you start getting less attractive so less people would want to have sex with you. Some people may not even want to look at you once you hit a certain age, don't even talk about dating. As you get older, you're find yourself surrounded by divorced women, single moms. Empirical evidence has also accumulated in support of women's preferences for older men, and as you might expect, the data often overlap with those data supporting men's preferences. As this sample of Conroy-Beam and Buss's (2019) review suggests:
Cross-culturally, women report wanting partners who are (on average) 3.5 years older than them.
In online dating, women make the first contact with older men at a greater than rate they do younger men.
Marriage records show that women are marrying men who are older than they are by about 3 years.

i think its because women typically aren't attracted to old men.
Biologically women are not designed to be attracted to weight gain, white hairs, losing hair, baldness, loss of muscle mass, wrinkles (all of these typically happen as men get older). And there is a good reason for that, because older men tend to have subpar sperm which produces inferior offspring.
Same reason why you aren't attracted to fat women, because fat women tend to give inferior offspring.
Women are attracted to young men , tall , handsome, with a full head of hair, has muscles. All these cues signal good reproductive health which ascertains survival of offspring. - +1 y
@aliali8 evolutionarily women are attracted to the tribal elders. They were probably 25-35, and women were probably 15-18 max when those men impregnated them. Thats a 20 year age gap from 15 to 35. Thats because it takes time for a man to prove he has the genes for success. On the other hand, fertility has been such an issue that all women get to reproduce...

@aliali8 men get to decide who has a relationship and who doesn't. Its men who hit it and quit it. Thats why it matters what men choose to do. @aliali8 that doesn't change the thousands of years of evolution that tell men to be more attracted to younger girls. Evolutionarily , women are most attracted to men in 20-30s, Which is why dating / marriage prime is 20-30s. It is also the same reason why overwhelming majority of the population have all their kids by the time they hit 40. People rarely ever get married or have kids after 40.
Humans are not designed to be attracted to older people due to inferior reproduction - +1 y
@icedlemonade
It’s better to be a woman than a man because single woman can have kids and a family while single men can’t. He’s just gonna sit there and wait until he’s old fat ugly wrinkly saggy and still be begging for a woman of child bearing age to pay him any attention. Women are garuanteed a family , men aren’t. Only men die alone , women don’t have to - +1 y
@aliali8 most men never have had kids, most have actually died in battles or wasted their lives farming fields as slaves or whacking on iron on all day just to drink a beer at the end

@aliali8 Thats not true though, a lot of women have died alone. And this generation will see the most lonely women to die alone ever in human history
