I struggled with this myself especially when I your age. As a child and young women I was very shy. As I matured dated more and had more life experiences I gained overall confidence. I still think of myself as quiet and soft spoken, but I also have confidence in myself overall. I dated men with different personalities, from confident nice guys to a guy who was more dominent, he wasn't an asshole or anything but there was definatly a feeling that he had the upperhand. I see that you are young, so my advice would be for you to take time when it comes to dating, don't rush into anything too quickly, learn about yourself and what you want your place in the world to be. It can be dauting to live life as a naturally shy person but it doesn't have to rob you of having confidence, self empowerment or individuality.

Yeah it used to happen to me. I wasn’t shy and submissive as much as I was introverted and didn’t speak up. It resulted in being taken advantage of a lot.
Yeah it can.
i think one of the words you may be looking for is passive rather than just submissive.
personally I tend to avoid quiet, shy types as I tend to be naturally dominant and it’s sort of not fair and I feel guilty where I end up having a fairly passive partner.
i need someone with confidence, independence and individuality.
Personally avoid for reasons similar to what you have said.
Absolutely. If you don’t set and enforce boundaries, Narcissists will see you as easy pickings and will take advantage of you.

I don't know, to me when a girl is very submissive it makes me want to be extra nice to her and be careful to not hurt her feelings.
Yes. Not only, or with certainty, but yes it gives everyone the opportunity to dominate you.
