Why would a coworker touch me this much?

So I (f) have this coworker (m) that has been very touchy lately.

he’ll come up to me and say hi and put his hand on my back a few times he’s rubbed my back with the palm of his hand. Or we’ll be talking and he’ll apologize because I didn’t hear him and he’ll put his hands on my back and my shoulder at the same time.

One the strap of my shirt was kinda twisted so started to fix without asking if it was ok to touch or even letting me fix it myself.

He’s also touched my hair before saying I like your hair and then grabbing a piece of it. he’s touched the front of shoulder and the back of my shoulder also the upper and middles of my back.

what would be the reason for all this touching

While on the surface this behavior gives strong rapist vibes, you need to bare in mind you have all of the context in your head. If you turn around and give a man “the F*** me eyes” then yeah maybe he will fix your hair. If you are in any way welcoming it nonverbally then by all means let it be weird. Hey maybe ur into him too. But if you are blindsided by these uncomfortable behaviors then good lord woman speak up! If another man hears you I promise you, 8-9/10 times he will stick up for you in your honor. Straight men are generally huge on policing themselves and what’s right on their environment. (Just please be safe and try to do that in as public of a setting as possible, of course)


As for this question, I’d say it’s impossible for someone like me to tell you exactly how bad he did/does/had allegedly sexually harassed you without the entire story. Just my.2

that amount of touching is not normal in a workspace, I feel like he's looking to hook up with you and if you don't like what he's doing you should at first tell him to stop, and if his reaction got more intense report him to your boss or police

What he does should never ever be tolerated in a work environment.

It is a clear infringement of any work place in a civilized place. You should first tell him to refrain from being so tactile with you and refrain to touch you in the future. If that fails, you have to report him to HR because if you don't he will assume that you are okay with it.

This type of behavior could be seen as sexual harassment at a workplace and that is not to be tolerated under no circumstances.

My guess is that he wants to get into your pants and that he tries his luck initially the more "innocent" way. If you don't react, he will assume that you are not opposed and one could even assume that you encourage that type of deviant behavior.
