What do you do when a group of guys won’t take your opinions seriously?

This is so frustrating to me. A lot of the time if I’m with a group of people say at a game club or out socialising if I try to input my thoughts in a conversation of guys they either just ignore me or don’t take anything I say seriously. Like I can’t be smart enough to know what they’re discussing. Once I was with a few guys and they were talking about a topic relating to the cosmos and how black holes work. I love this stuff so I thought I’d put my piece into the convo and a guy literally said to me “shh sweetheart the men are talking. You wouldn’t understand this subject.”

I was stunned and just walked away in a daze thinking what did I do wrong?

The guys in your story are clearly missing basic education, and still did not get rid of the millennia old male sexist behavior. That's a very old still not solved worldwide problem, and the fight for women to get equal rights is only at its beginning. Still, there are open minded guys, and the only thing you, as an individual can do, is leave those retarded men where they are, and look somewhere else for more evolved males. Now, there are some special artificial psychological tricks for a speaker, whether male or female, to get attention... Good luck girl ;0)

Well they don't know as much about history as they do about science if they think women can't do this stuff. Kevlar was discovered by a woman. So was the double helix in DNA ( two guys named Watson and Crick took credit for it but she did all the fucking work). Radioactivity, or the theory thereof was discovered by a Polish woman. It goes on and on. There's many. During World War 2, women were toiling in factories building tanks, planes, artillery pieces, ammunition, trucks, and everything else fighting a war requires. No men around to do it, so they did it. Moreover, some of the best codebreakers during the war were women. That's pretty sophisticated shit. It ain't like doing crossword puzzles. And I could go on but you get the point.
How should you respond next time? Walk away and leave them in their ignorance.

All you can do is show them up when you have the chance. The problem is a lack of respect. That said, I've heard a lot of women talk about men acting like this, but I have never once actually seen it in my life.

Mentally I know it happens, but like... I feel like no one really acts like this. I don't know where I'm going with this... Sorry you got treated that way.

That was rude. I for one know women can and do have valuable insight on many topics. It could be that they have known you for a long time and are unable to see you as mature. It is hard to get respect from those who have known you a long time. But keep trying!
