Why would a guy instantly touch/fix his hair and shirt when a girl looks at him or stare at him?

he did every time even i stopped staring at him. whenever i look somewhere and he is around he fixes his hair and whenever he talks to me or someone near me he fix his hair then talk to that person because i will look at him.
