Is the main trait bosses look for in people to promote to leadership Confidence? Why did I think I should be a leader?

I am very quiet shy and a sweet babygirl.
Also i can find it hard to multitask and do stuff i think leaders would do.

I am more like a quiet little daisy hiding at the bottom of the forest.

Not a tall tree people seek out for shade🤣

I was just watching the judge in the Amber Heard case and she used all this big words like it was nothing. I am a good writer and read literature but I can't really imagine being a judge and using big important words like her and holding those complex ideas in my brain all at once. Oh my goodness.

All this, And to think i wanted to be a leader at my retail job.

It greatly depends how good a person people, leader, manager the boss actually is.

The person getting promoted will vary greatly company to company.

ideally you want a person who is able to motivate the team he will be managing and leading.

it also depends if the company needs a leadership person or a manager (or both).

being a good leader does not make you a good manager, and being a good manager does not make you a good leader.

Yes the person needs confidence, problem solving, organisational skills, people skills.

At times there is the old problem of the needs of the task and the needs of the team.

Both need looked at and an ideal person will know how to balance these to get a task done.

Confidence, ability to think on feet, able to get the best out of their team without killing them to get tasks done, recognising to do the important things first.

it’s a mix of skills really.

A good leader will give their people the chance to experience leadership under controlled tasks, such as organising staff Christmas party, deciding how to set out a display, who should do what job and why they should.

Companies need to grow leaders and not deskill them,

You are probably just introverted. Introverts (including myself) have this problem. It's a gradual procedure to get out (only if you want to - because some progress are just fine with it).

I'm in the process of getting out. I want to. I had a 5 years plan when I decided I'm gonna take a different path. That was 4 years ago. The pandemic slowed me down but I have achieved a quite a nice level where I'm fighting myself to be good at people skills as well as in career. I learnt a lot on my career side, improved my second language skills, improved a lot in people skills.

I'm 35 this year. I haven't stop trying. Nor should you!

The funny part is i actually already have inner confidence that i would be a decent leader. I mean i would want to be at least. Social openness notwithstanding. But I don't know if i will lose myself as a woman. I seen female bosses and often it seems they traded being a woman for being a boss.

Generally it's physical appearance appeal, minority status check box ticking or being a sycophantic yes man are the way ro go.

Being too rich for the job your in is also an easy way to secure a promotion for some reason.
