I declined his friendship request on Instagram did I do the right thing?

His my brothers best friend, he has a girlfriend, we both said we fancied each other and kissed when we both were drunk at a party. I obviously feel dreadful at what happened. I felt declining the friend request was the right thing to do, what do you think? I don’t obviously want to see pictures of him and his girlfriend and I don’t want him seeing what I’m up to either. Obviously if he was single and we decided to take things further between us I’d be all up for accepting him on there.
